I've had a cold/cough and i've also had the flu for 6 days and my baby was completely unfazed by it, I am BF. I believe your baby will likely be protected from the immunities in breastmilk.
edit: I meant antibodies in breast milk as next poster said
When you have a cold or cough, then your body is producing antibodies to it. The baby will receive those antibodies through your breastmilk. This will protect baby from getting sick and if baby does get sick then he or she will not be as sick or be sick for as long as if you are not breastfeeding.
Thanks for your response.Actually I was asking this for one of my friend as she was very much worried she is Bf and both the mother and child are suffering from bad cold.
