Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital - Nursery

I don't post often Bump boards, but I'm trying to get information about whether or not I will be able to send my baby to the nursery during my stay at Lake Forest Hospital.  I have a scheduled C-section, so it would be hard to take care of a baby on my own right away.  I'm not going to BF either, so the nurses can feed the baby for me.

I delivered at Lake Forest 4 years ago, but a lot has changed lately as far as limiting nursery time and encouraging a room-in experience.  Just curious if anyone has any experience with the Nursery lately at Lake Forest.  I would love to spend those first few nights sleeping so that I can heal in advance of taking care of a baby 24/7 when I'm home.

Re: Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital - Nursery

  • I didn't deliver at that hospital, so I could be wrong. But, I'm sure you'll be able to have the baby in the nursery if you wish. I know lot's of hospitals do encourage rooming-in with baby, but if that's not what you want then I'm sure it will be available to you.
I would set up a hospital tour where you can see the nursery and ask any questions before you deliver. Or, just give the L&D unit a call, I'm sure they can answer that kind of question over the phone so you know for sure.

    Good luck!
