3mo growth spurt?

DD will be 12wks on Thursday and I'm really hoping this is just part of the 3mo growth spurt ... She is nursing so much each day - up to 30min on each side and its literally sucking the life out of me. She also used to STTN since 8wks from about 9pm-8am and now I'm lucky if I can get her down by 1030pm and and is waking up between 3-5am! She isn't going back down easily either. I am not even changing her - just throwing her on the boob and back in her RNP.

I go back to work in 2wks and there is absolutely no way I could keep up with this then - I would literally be getting 4hrs of sleep each night.
Plus, I'm worried about keeping up with supply while I'm pumping at work. No way I could pump for 30min. Right now ill only be able to do 10-15min two to three times per day.

She is waking up with bad gas (the hugest farts) and kicking her RNP. Nothing has changed in our routine except that over the weekend she was getting tired earlier so I put her down closer to 830 for two nights.

Anyone else go through the 3mo growth spurt? Please tell me this is temporary.

Re: 3mo growth spurt?

  • This sounds like the entire third month for me. Haha. It was terrible and we are still adjusting. I wouldn't worry too much. Drink lots of water and avoid peppermint. It can greatly decrease your supply. I have a huge supply and just a small amount of peppermint dries me up.

  • It does get easier.... I promise. Hang in there OP.

  • While each baby is different, I will say that for us, the spurts usually don't last long, and after it's over, I always forget how tough it was until the next little spurt meaning that in hindsight it never seems as bad. Just remember it's temporary! Hang in there!
