Dh and I will be going to New Orleans for our 10 year anniversary in late summer. We haven't figured out we we will take the kids this summer. It will be somewhere we can drive to in half a day or less.
Hey I just met you, and you're my baby. This is your family, we're kind of crazy...
Nothing set in stone, but hoping to head to NYC in May. It'll cost an arm and a leg to stay at a suite hotel, but given that we used to take a BIG fall trip every year and we didn't for 2012 & 2013, it's probably okay to justify the cost. DS will be 18months.

No vacations planned here. Was planning on escaping with the hubby somewhere and taking the kids somewhere but now that we bought this house that won't be happening
We are probably going to go on a five day couple's trip to Gatlinburg in April, staying at a nice B&B. I have my eye on this one: https://www.eightgables.com/
Then in September 4 days at Disney and 4 at the beach with my parents and the toddler.
MH wants to take a big trip ( extended family too) to Atlantis in the Bahamas next May. DD will be 2.5 and the new baby will be a bit over a year. It is very kid friendly, but I'm not sure what I think about it. Especially because we don't vacation often.
@scrumpfy, we have been to the Atlantis 2x (before babies) as a family and my husband has been 4x. Just be prepared to spend A LOT of money. For 6 of us +flights and food it would have been over $20,000 to go this April. My husband was there this past March and said the beach and coral towers are not being taken care of and that it was only worth it if you stayed in Royal towers or better. Needless to say we chose another all inclusive resort in the Bahamas this spring and will do a day pass to the Atlantis for 1 day during our trip. I will say it is an incredible resort and a family trip that is truly awesome. Although, I remember most of the things to do in the waterpark were for older kids/adults and not little ones but I may not have noticed since I didnt have a baby at the time. Sorry for the lecture I have just spent a week researching resorts and vacations.
I have a conference in Orlando in dev and want to take the family to Lego land at the end of it. Dh and I want to do an anniversary weekend in the fall and leave the kids with grandparents. We are thinking ca but haven't decided yet.
@chricast, thanks! That is good stuff to know. I actually have been , but a loooong time ago, when it was pretty new. How disappointing it's not being kept up so well. Well, if anyone has good ideas for kid friendly, multi family, mega vacation, I'm all ears.
@scrumpfy are you talking may 2015? If so there is a gigantic Baha Mar that is being built that is supposed to be incredible in the Bahamas ...look in to that. I think it opens December 2014. https://www.bahamar.com/about-us/
Every summer we go to orange beach and stay in a condo on perdido blvd. it is so pretty and private beach to just condo renters. We stay in a bottom floor and our back patio has grass outside of it, making it perfect for the kids. We stay in a 4 bedroom with mil and fil and bil his wife and three nieces. We all take turns cooking meals and just have. Blast. I can't wait!!!!!

@Momtobe2912 Where do you live? I'm East Coast (NC) and Hawaii is 6 hours behind. My parents used to live there...but they don't do the time change either. It's been a few years since they lived there, so I forget.
As of right now, we are planning a family trip to Disney in December. It was originally supposed to be just my parents, my sister and DH and I plus kids. But DH wanted to invite his mom and she would've said something to his sisters, so we extended the invitation. However, DH feels like his older sister and family won't go because of money. She said yes for now, but he doesn't think they'll have the money anyways.
DH is in a wedding in Sept in Boston and we're hoping we don't have to bring the kids so that would be a nice mini-vacation for us.
Other than that, no plans. We live only 20 min from the beach, so I'm sure we'll go a few times this summer
@Momtobe2912 we went to hi with ds1 when he was 17 months. From the east coast it is 5 or 6 hours depending on daylight savings time. The flights were pretty easy. Though ds1 was a mellow baby - more so then ds2. He travelled as a lap child. The time change wasn't too bad. He was up really early our first day there but fine after that. I tired to keep him eating and napping on schedule as much as possible.

from the East Coast it's 5 hours in the Winter and 6 hours in the Summer
I wish we had something planned... but H deploys in February for 9 months I might go see him on a port call in the summer, but I wouldn't be taking the boys since it would be super far away (we live on the east coast and he would likely be somewhere in the middle east.) I'm hoping for UAE so i can go to Dubai. But that's hoping that my parents would come watch them and I'm not sure it would work logistically. When he gets back in November I would really like to go somewhere fun, maybe take space A military flights super cheap to Italy with the boys around Thanksgiving.
I'd sooner eat glass than take my kid on a flight right now!
multiply that feeling times 3 and that is where I am at. Now summer of 2015 especially 2016 I will be ready to explore that option. But since we are in the middle of the us this means my kids won't see an ocean for years

My MIL called the travel agent to book the hotel I finally narrowed it down to and I didnt realize you had to fly into Freeport bahamas and not Nassau bahamas and there are no direct flights into Freeport so they wont do it. His grandmother is paying for everything and wants to go to the Atlantis so we may end up going there which isnt a bad thing I just think it is too expensive, but not paying so oh well.
