I'm starting this today. Not because of the new year, but because I get pregnancy comments everytime I work, and I hate running and want to build up my endurance. (Right word for that?)
I'm jealous of these people that can run miles like its nothing when I am struggling to run 1.
I've been working out for a month now with little to no change, and I'm wanting that to change.

Anyone else doing this or something similar?
I haven't started anything yet but I've been getting ready (mentally lol) to attempt what you are doing. The weather is too nice, it's 73 here in Florida, and I'm sleeping better so I really have no more excuses. Are you using a planned schedule or just winging it based on your abilities? If you are using a schedule, can you share it or a link to a similar website?
Like you, I absolutely hate running but I'm struggling to find other viable options. I was a competitive swimmer through college and love to swim, but I don't have access to a lap-pool. I also don't have the extra babysitting hours or $$ for a gym membership. So aside from home DVDs, running is my only option.
My SIL gained 80 pounds with her first son, and she was stick thin before she got pregnant. She didn't lose very much after giving birth and really struggled with her weight. She started running and when she got to the point she could push LO in a jogging stroller, the pounds FLEW off. I know everyone is different, but the difference was unbelievable. Unfortunately, her DS is 4 now and she runs 5ks & half-marathons like they are nothing, so she has been useless in giving advice on how to get started.
I started running about a month ago but I hurt my knee. I think I just overdid it too soon. I'm just now getting back to where I can start running again. This time I'm not going to push myself too hard until I know my body is ready for it. Pregnancy really does a number on your joints!
I used the couch to 5k app a couple years ago and had good success . It's a good slow start for non runners. I'd love to say I'm all gung-ho about getting in an exercise routine, but I'm not. We'll go for lots of stroller walks when the weather gets nicer.
I HATE running. I have never found that "zone" that people speak of. I did couch to 5k last year before my wedding, and had success with losing some weight and reshaping my body a bit. When I started it I had never run more than a mile at once.

I've never been athletic in my life, so I'm hoping this will help.
I'm following the app. I downloaded it and it has trainers and something for you to follow everyday.

Despite being athletic, I have always been a horrible runner. My college coach just assumed we all cross-trained with running, which I did not, so freshman year I could swim a mile faster than I could run it lol! I didn't realize it was an app so thank you for the info, and good luck!!
I have always HATED running as well. A friend of mine has her how health and fitness business and she put out a challenge to walk or run 3.1 miles tomorrow to start the new year on a healthy foot. She also is doing a 4 week challenge group in which we'll slowly cut out bad things and add good. I like the idea of the couch to 5k app. Definetly going to check it out! Thanks!
1st day went well. They start you out easy it seems. The only issue I had was the YMCA's wifi wasn't working so I had no music to work out to, which sucked.
I just downloaded the app last night. I was athletic in hs and college but not much of a runner. In previous moments of athleticism I've done a lot of walking and thrown some jogging in. I'd like to try running and I think this will help. I'm trying to find motivation though since its about 20 degrees here.
I had plans of starting this last year and then I found out I was pregnant so it just fell to the wayside. I didn't think about trying it again but I'm going to have to, thanks for posting this and reminding me. My wedding is in September and I have some serious weight to lose.
I've looked at the C25K app, thought about doing it. I desperately want to be a runner, so this year I'm just making it happen. I was in a really good groove last year, actually, and then I found out I was pregnant... I kept going with my routine, but then I got INSANE morning sickness and it derailed me.
I've been running with my stroller and it's pleasant, although I'm walking a lot. No way I could run steady for even half a mile right now. I got a sweet watch for Christmas that I input all my info into and then it tracks my distance, calories, steps, and heart rate. So that's motivating me a lot!
Let's have a runner's check in! I don't mind doing it... if there's a certain day people would like to do it, I'm open to whatever. We can share our milestones and keep each other accountable.
I'm on week 2 of C25K. I love it. It is a slow paced plan that keeps you from overdoing it and getting injured. If you feel like you can do more than what the plan says, I suggest adding extra days per week rather than running longer or progressing more quickly throughout the plan. I hope to do C25K then 5k to 10k plan then 10k to half marathon.. We will see! So far the longest race I've completed is a 5k.
Good luck to all you guys! I think my biggest goal is just to get rid of this extra weight, and if I can run long distances after that, even better
Ps. I would love a runners check in too. I am a lazy person and most definitely need someone keeping me in check. That's partly why I went with the couch to 5k app, so I have a regimine to follow, and a trainer to make me do it.
Awesome! We are so doing a running check-in. We can talk about mileage for the week, times, what goals we're setting for ourselves and our progress in achieving them, injuries, playlists, tips, whatever. Want to do it maybe on Sundays? We don't have much happening then. Or Tuesdays?

@hbirdie I don't have a preference for a day.
