Paci question

When LO falls asked with a paci, do you take it out of their mouth?

Our LO usually falls asleep and as he does it just falls out, but at the moment he's asleep and has a death grip on the thing. Dislodging it will surely wake him. I'm planning to sleep too, but not sure if it's ok to leave it? What do you ladies do?

    I have no clue. That's why I asked. :)

Thanks girls. He spat it out the second I finished posting this of course. If I can get it back in I will leave it be.

  • If by some chance it stays in after she falls asleep, I'd leave it. That's my hypothetical answer, because it never stays in long enough for that to actually happen.

Lucy is currently asleep with it in her mouth. Considering she's been fighting sleep since 7, I'm not risking it. Once it pops out I'll take it.

This as well, he's been screeching for hours. Usually it just falls out when he nods off but he was so wound up he clenched onto it.

  • My pedi actually recommended putting Jack down with a pacifier. It's thought to help prevent SIDS.
    Leave it.

    Leave it.

I've read/heard it helps prevent SIDS as well. Sam goes to sleep with his all the time.

@Sarahdavis83 I love the sound of the paci too!

This! I second PP's leave it!

I third this! They told us to let him keep it because it will also help his muscles for sucking.

  • @jaxxm Fine, I get it. You think my question is stupid and you want to make sure I know it.

  • I had to research this myself before I calmed down about leaving it in DD's mouth too. My Baby 411 book said it's ok, all over the internet says it's ok, life is good.
I always think of the Simpson's baby when I hear her sucking on the paci. :)
  • Ok, it's not a stupid question, but it's a little silly. Just relax! The whole point of a paci is to soothe...don't wake the beast!
