Babies: 9 - 12 Months

I'm so excited that my mom was wrong!

My childhood best friend and I have been out of touch since my wedding.  I'm not really sure what happened.  I've been sending Christmas cards to her parents every year though, because they were like my second family growing up.

I didn't get a card back from them last year, so I thought that maybe they had moved or something.

In October, I was talking about them with my mom, and she mentioned that she thought she had seen an obituary for my friend's mother in the newspaper--that she had died from breast cancer.  I sent a card this year anyway, just in case.

Well, I just got a card back!  She's not dead!  I'm really excited, because she really was like my second mom when I was growing up.  In some ways, I think she even knows me better (well, at the time) than my own mother does.

  • that's good news.  Have you been able to get back in touch w your friend too?

  • No.  I'm worried that she has gotten back into some bad things.  When we were in high school, she was pretty heavily into the drug scene.  She even sold and took hard drugs.  We weren't so close at that time.  She got cleaned up though, and we got back in touch right before my wedding.  She was living at home and going to nursing school.  I left a few messages at her house after I got married, but she never called back.  She's anti-technology, so she doesn't have e-mail or anything.

A few years back, I actually asked people on here whether I should keep trying to contact her, and people told me that I was being a stalker! :) Apparently, a phone call about once every 6-10 months is creepy.
