For the mama's who haven't started their babies nursery

Seeing all these cute nurseries on the other thread made me want to start one for us who haven't! Just to make us procrastinaters feel better!
Can you see the baby boy clothes and diapers in the middled of all this pink?! He'll will be sharing a room with his 4yr old twin sisters. I haven't figured out how that's going to work yet.....image

Re: For the mama's who haven't started their babies nursery

  • Yes new DD will be sharing with my 2 year old DD. However we will have to switch DS into the smaller room so that the girls can have the bigger room. The switch has not begun.

  • @Grace682 I moved last time at 36w- several states away no less. It was fine! Baby was in our room for long enough to get the nursery functional.

  • We plan on moving DS into DH's "man room" and then DD will take over DS's old room.  We are going to actually do it this weekend and DS seems to really be looking forward to it.  Although, he just said to me this afternoon, he wanted to share a room with DD.  Sooo sweet!

I've only just begun.  I know what color we are painting and what bedding we are getting, but that's about it. And it makes me nervous because last time I ended up in the hospital at 28 weeks for the rest of my pregnancy and thankfully we had mostly everything done already. Now I'm already 24 weeks with so much left to do!

  • We've picked our paint color and.....yeah that's it :) that other thread made me freak too so thank you for this :)

  • After reading everyone's posts about nurseries being done/almost done, I made DH spackle the baby room over the weekend. That way we can say we started lol. I still have to clear out a lot of junk.

  • We just primed and picked out colors and we still have to put carpet down! The holidays were to hectic to get anything done!
  • Baby girl will be moving in with my daughter, no nursery set ups here. We have the crib, all we have to buy is a dresser and all done.

  • We sign on our new house tomorrow! So maybe this will help get us moving. I've got a few accent pieces either I bought or someone gave me. But zero furniture. That actually has me a little nervous. I said to DH we have to order that as soon as we can.
  • If it makes you feel better my 2.5 year old still doesn't have a nursery ;)

We will set up the crib in our current play room and buy her some bedding, maybe. We co sleep for at least the first year so it's not that big of a deal.

  • I admittedly get a little sad & jealous when I see nursery threads! We're moving in June, so it'd be pointless to set one up. Gotta wait just a few months after.

Yup, this is exactly my situation too. We did start clearing out what will be the baby corner of our room, which makes me happy, but no decorating is happening until we move into a 2 bedroom in July.

  • I made DH clean out the guest room this weekend in order to turn it into a nursery. He made good progress but it's still not cleared out. I also haven't decided to do a wallpaper or painted accent wall. Oh and the crib is at my parents house. So essentially I've got plans but no real action. This is what I did for our wedding too- although I had a hard set deadline for that. Eeeeek!
  • the only real changes we've made so far are buying kiddo a twin bed and re-converting the toddler bed back into a crib.  other than that, i'll just make sure i have enough clothes and i'll finish stocking up on essentials like nipple cream and a second boppy, etc.  the room itself won't change one bit (aside from the addition of the twin bed, which has already happened) so for us, it's more like we need to get the house in order, start thinking about freezing some meals early enough, and figure out kiddo's schooling for next year.  very unglamorous :)
  • Baby's room will be DHs old man room so we just need to get it cleared out and start buying furniture. Salvation Army came by today and I sold some stuff on Craigslist so it's a little better but still a long way to go. I also want to wait until after my shower to see what I get before I buy too much. Already got a ton of clothes from my BFF so we are set in that regard. Plenty of plans, just need to get it all done by March.
  • Plans yes, seriously no action. But, I had decided that I wasn't going to worry about it until we get back from holiday travel. November and December are hell times in my work, so, no weekends or evenings to do anything (except not sleep and bump, LOL.) The room is already painted, but, DH wants to do another coat in some spots. Also, its loaded with stuff. We need to get some more furniture for our bedroom so that LO's room can work. Weird, right?

  • Baby will be sharing a room with me and SO so I'm not doing any decorating. I wish he had his own space, but not having to paint and decorate is easier. :)
  • Just yesterday we bought a chest at Ikea. We'll be putting curtains in the next days, and just getting rid of random stuff that is sitting in the room. I'll get the bed my sister used for my niece later on. It'll be all white and wood, and the accessories will be pink. And I admit I am going to decorate more for myself than for the baby, since she won't be aware, but a want a nice comforting environment to breastfeed and be with her anyway!

  • The nursery posts definitely make me feel like a slacker...but my lack of desire to "nest" is even worse! Oh well...it will have to be done eventually!
  • Have barely started on our nursery
I've gotten as far as picking out some paint samples , purchasing a crib and mattress , some wall decals , comforter and a small rug
The room that will be the baby's is currently housing my excessive amount of clothes

  • Yeah...I have all of these great ideas in my head.  Our nursery is currently still our guest room.  Though the bed is covered in bags of baby clothes and other baby items we've received.  The crib and dresser are in their huge boxes in the room as well.  We still need to convert our office into the office/guest room, but to do that, we need to move our cat's litter box to the basement.  That transition ought to be fun.  Once he's moved, we need to really clean up the floors and then start the clean out/switch of rooms.  Thankfully, we don't have to paint.  DH will just need to touch up a few spots

  • We are moving almost 1000 miles from our current home around 6 weeks before I am due. We don't even have a new house picked out yet!! We will rent since our new place we will only be at for 8 months though. I just stockpiled everything we have so far in our current guest room and kept everything in boxes. I will have alot of work to do when we move & before baby comes.... she will have her own nursery in the new house though but stinks I can't paint the walls or put up any decals since we are renting.

  • Baby girl is taking over hubby's man/hunting room and we are still clearing his things out of there! We are almost done with that though! The closet is finally empty (minus my sewing machine/crafty things, she has to share with mommy!) so I have put some of her clothing in already! I have the rug (rolled up in the corner!), the chandelier is ready to be hung, the crib is put together in there already (even though we just discovered we have to take it down to sand and restain the wood floors(they don't match the rest of the house because there was carpet in there), we have the dresser/changing table ready to go in once there's room and that's about it! I have a plan and lots of things pinned on Pinterest I just need DH to finish getting his stuff out! Now it's also cluttered with boxes from Christmas decor but I plan on getting that out today! I thought we were doing good until that post came and I saw all of the finished and almost finished nurseries! We have a plan to finish completely by the end of January no later than the end of February (hopefully we stick to it!) Also waiting to have my shower before we make any more big purchases!

  • I feel so much better reading all of your posts on this.. We cleaned out most of our spare room and I picked a color finally after I painted about 10 different ones on the wall. But that's it we still need to spackle, prime, paint and get new carpet before we get furniture in there and decorate.. Hopefully it will be done before our little girl arrives lol but if it's not at least she will be in our room for a while
  • We've done nothing. Haven't even cleared out the room. We'll order nursery furniture early Feb and my mom is making the bedding and curtains. I just started looking at fabric yesterday. I wasn't such a slacker with DD!

All are welcome in my posts

  • I sobbed all day Sunday like a 3 year old because our 2nd bedroom was still full of crap and all I did was walk around screaming "there's sh*t everywhere!!!!"

My house is one huge, revolving renovation (against my will) and so it is never neat, clean or has a room without some massive power tool in it. I am a type-A organization freak and my husband is a pig....He currently has 3 renovation projects going (not including clearing out the nursery which contains all of his pack rat junk that "must be saved because, you never know".) So clearing out the room is low on his list, but somehow when he comes home one day and everything is thrown out on the front lawn by a maniacal pregnant woman, it will be a different story...

So not having the nursery at least painted is making me want to be violent. Seeing this thread made me a little less crazy. For now...
  • We have the problem of playing musical furniture. DD's new furniture is in pieces in the man room. Her nursery furniture needs to be moved into the new nursery which is currently my craft room. My craft room will be merging with the man room but there's no room in there because of DD's new furniture. It gives me a headache just thinking about it.

  • We are going to start boxing up our office this weekend to make room for our crib and dresser. I'm still not sure where I'm going to put our office stuff!
  • We are slowly but surely cleaning out the office/guest room to make room for baby!
I am so excited to finally attempt to sell DH's hideous futon on Craigslist. No ugly and giant piece of college furniture--and no more week-long visitors! Win-win.

Once the futon is gone, I think plans will pick up.

  • It's funny how everyone's nursery is a former man cave, lol.

Progress made this morning! I just ordered the dresser/changing table and I found a graco frame stroller on craigslist for half price!!
  • Our future nursery is still filled with SO's stuff.  Apparently it's on his to-do list to clean it out today (I gave him a pass til after we got back from Christmas vacation ;) ).  I am not too worried since the baby is going to sleep in our room for the first few months anyway.
  • Our nursery is mostly empty already. My husband wants to remodel our bedroom first. We only have two rooms, so we will have to use the nursery until it's finished. I told him he had until the end of January and not a day longer.

The nursery is already painted a nice gray, so I'm sticking with that. All I have to do is start putting stuff in it...once he's finished the model.
  • So we started a massive renovation project about two weeks before we got our BFP. It's still ongoing.... It involved adding a new room (done- now going to be a playroom), expanding the driveway (done), taking the wall out between our kitchen and living room (in progress), adding a bartop and new oven, scrapping all of the popcorn off the ceilings, repainting ceilings, fixing wall cracks from some foundation repair we just had done, touch up paint, pull up carpet and put seamless hardwood floors throughout the house. Oye! Needless to say... There's no point in starting the nursery just yet. DH promises to start in the nursery with the painting and floors so I can work on the nursery while he finishes the rest of the house. He's doing all of the renovations himself- which is nice but also slow going. He's pretty amazing- it looks great so far! But being in major nesting mode in the middle of a construction zone is... Counterproductive.
  • I don't even have a spare room for a nursery, so those who haven't started but able, makes me a little green with envy...
  • I'm glad I'm not the only one that hasn't started.  I feel sooooo overwhelmed!  I have to move three different rooms around, yikes!   The baby will be moved into what is now the office, my 2 sons are moving to the spare room, and the spare room and office contents are going to the boys' current room.  UGH!  And DH is not home very much, either working shift work or on the go when he's off.  In my naive, crazy little mind April is still a ways off but I know in reality it's just around the corner.  Yikes!!   haha
  • I bought a duffel bag yesterday. I have nothing for my baby to sleep in, and no car seat but I have a empty duffel bag!

  • We are in the process of moving into my mother-in-law's house baby will have her own room however I don't know if the mil will let me decorate it.
Hopefully we will be able to set up a nursery when the baby is about two years old when Our house is finally built. I guess that would no longer be a nursery?
