Baby dropping Q

For those that know that it's like, please describe what it feels like when baby has 'dropped'. What are the signs and what to look out for? Do you lose your mucus plug soon after too?

I'm a STM, but I delivered prematurely at 32 weeks last year so I don't think I realized what what happening. It was totally unexpected & caught me off guard. I hear delivery is close after baby drops.

Just wanted some advice since I'm 32 weeks now. I'm hoping to go full term this time, but I won't be surprised if I go early again.

    It's not like your baby suddenly slams its head into your cervix and ejects your MP. All it means is that when you *do* go into labour your baby is already engaged in the head down position. That's all.

    This. My baby dropped about two weeks ago. It's been pretty uneventful

    I only knew my baby had dropped this time around because I didn't have any more heartburn but I had to pee much, much more frequently and my hips hurt worse.

    Doctor confirmed yesterday that he has dropped (+1 station!) but I haven't lost my MP and I don't think labor is imminent.  I'll just get to walk around with a baby halfway hanging out for a few weeks :P

    I dropped at 30 wks with ds1. It was like @soap1 described. Lost my MP a couple times too.

    All dropping has meant for me is that I get lightning vag more often.

    Pretty sure I never dropped with DS, as I was at -4 or -3 station through my entire labor (including pushing!) Seriously, he just never wanted to come out.
