L&D for NST. update

Having awful belly tightening at work. I counted 7 in an hour and then left ASAP with a call to my OB. They asked me to come in right away for NST. Hoping i'm just dehydrated or something simple. 33w and freaking out.

Those of you with NST's before... It's just a simple belly monitor, right?

Still here, but baby is doing great. Just had an ultrasound and she seems to be unaffected and relaxed. I've had two shots to stop contractions and now they're trying some oral pills. Hopefully going home tonight, but not sure yet. Definitely on bed rest for the next three weeks, hoping LO can stay cooking until at least 36!!

Thank you for the messages, T's and P's! DH is keeping me laughing while trying to make friends with the nurses. The doctors have been great and I feel so much better about coming here for the real deal. Xox

Yes, very simple. I've had NSTs at my OB's office and at L&D. They hook up a monitor to the baby to watch the heart rate and a second monitor to watch your contractions. Good luck!

Yes, you just sit there. If your phone isn't charged, make sure to grab a charger to keep you occupied. Good luck and keep us updated!

Yes, it's two straps around your belly. One measures heart rate and the other measures contractions. They're looking for the baby's heart rate to be responsive with his/her movements. So when baby moves, heart rate should rise (I think for 10-15 seconds). It'll print out something on a piece of paper while you're doing it, so it's kind of cool to watch.

Thanks ladies!!! Phone died so DH brought me a charger. NST is showing contractions about every 7 minutes. Getting some good IV fluids and trying to slow them down. Waiting on my OB on call- apparently tons of women are in labor today- tax deduction babies!
