I know that there were stroller discussions a while back, but I am mobile and can't search plus if you're like me, you are second guessing what you have. I was given a hand me down Chicco Cortina key fit. Since it was free I didn't second guess that it would suffice.
Now that I am getting more active going on longer walks and going more places I am seeking something a little more "sporty" and built for more than going to the mall. Right now I walk a few miles in our neighborhood with numerous hills and would like to also go on some trails. I would like to be able to use the same stroller at the mall however and not look like an idiot. I am considering a BOB Sport Utility Stroller, but wondering if its worth the money. I'm also considering a travel system. I just don't know what the heck to do, it seems like there are way too many options!!
My questions are what stroller are you using and where do you go with it? If you could have something else what would it be and why? If you use a travel system is it worth the
money?
Thanks for reading this and any input you have! :-)
Edit: I suck at typing on my phone. And I did finally figure out how to search mobile, but I still want to know if your thoughts on strollers have changed now that we are actually hitting the road with our LO's!
Re: Stroller advice needed.
If I'm not mistaken the Sport Utility version has a stationary front wheel, so you would have to pop a wheelie and turn to maneuver. That's why I got the revolution SE instead- front wheel swivels for walking and can be set stationary for running with a little knob.
Mine's been around the world twice and held up phenomenally. We have the adapters on it that turn it into a travel system that works with our MaxiCosi car seat. I've also got the pram attachment for days when I have the time and energy to use it that way.
It's the perfect height for my stride, my feet don't hit the wheels on every step. It's high enough so my 6' 2" DH can push it comfortably with his much longer stride (he couldn't push our Chicco at all.)
It's got one-handed folding that is honestly, seriously able to be operated with one hand, both for folding and unfolding.
The seat goes completely flat so if I'm stuck somewhere without a changing table or the baby gets fussy from being in the car seat too long, we have options.
You can hang a crapload of bags off of the back (yeah, I know you're not supposed to do it) and it does not overbalance or tip -- it's *really* stable.
It handles being used in the city and off-road very easily. We took it on the trails and the beach in Australia, all of that stability and the wide tires made it really great.
My only criticism is the basket is smaller than I'd like. That is seriously the only bad thing I can come up with. Oh, and the width of the wheel base means it only fits in the car one way, but most people aren't driving a little roller skate of a car like me. But apart from those things, this is as near to perfect as I think a stroller can get.
I have 4 strollers now. I have the Graco click connect, which was great for malls and sidewalks because it's light and easy to use.
The Baby Jogger City Mini is super light weight, easy to use and compact. But it's not great if you go off pavement.
I have a Baby Trend Jogger that I use in our neighborhood, which doesn't have sidewalks and for light jogging. This works okay, but the straps are a pain.
I also have the Britax B Ready, which so far has keen awesome in the mall, stores, and trudging through snow. But I would not jog with it.
