Hoping to get some advice. An ENT has recommended a sleep study for our 2-year old as part of the process of deciding if we should remove her enlarged adenoids and tonsils. Has anyone had a sleep study done on their child this young? I'm nervous about putting her through something like this and don't understand how she will actually sleep and not completely flip out. We are getting pressure from our families not to put her through the study, especially if the end result may be the same. For what its worth, I've never heard her have any apnea spells ever, but I understand the monitors can pick up way more than I can.
Would love to hear any experiences! Thanks!

I had a friend whose 2 year old did a sleep study because he had enlarged adenoids and tonsils. The study was harder on her than the child. In the end he had his adenoids and tonsils out and they were huge. That was only a month ago but she says he sleeps better now.
Maybe ask the reasoning why they want to do the study to help ease your mind? My DD was snoring horribly to the point that she was waking up me and my DH. She was also getting frequent strep and ear infections. The ENT listened to her history, took one look down her throat and said oh yeah- those need to come out! Once we had her tonsils and adenoids removed the snoring instantly stopped and she's sleeping through the night.
Thank you for the responses. We talked about the appt with her regular doctor and he agreed that the sleep study is ridiculous and she doesn't need it. He said it's the standard protocol of that specialist's office, but there's no benefit to it for DD when she clearly needs her adenoids/tonsils removed. He called the ENT to advocate for her, but we will most likely get a referral for a different specialist.
How was your DDs surgery and recovery?
