Hi everyone! I hope I can join your community. I'm looking for some support and camaraderie in beginning this journey. The basics are in my sig, but we were lucky enough to have a BFP from our first IVF with a good second beta. I am (cautiously) excited but also very very scared as it's so early. For some reason my RE doesn't do the first ultrasound until 7 wks (seems a long time to me!) and I will be on the east coast that week so first ultrasound is not until 8 weeks! I'm scared that things won't be going well. DH is more scared that both embryos split and there will be quads. Also wondering if anyone has had this symptom: severe gas bloating - especially in the morning (sorry if TMI). I have really bad gas pains that will eventually go away if I can manage to burp or ... (sorry if TMI). My REs office said GasX is OK and that's been a little helpful. Between the bloat from ER and the gas bloat I look way more pregnant than I am but that's OK.

Congrats and welcome! In my experience the gas is totally normal...I have had it since a few days after my missed period. It seems to come and go and I find relief the same way you do

Congrats and welcome to PAIF! The good thing about having a later u/s is that, with the early ones, you often don't see a HB yet and I think it's actually harder than waiting til 8 wks, because you're imagining the worst in between appts. And, although I didn't have IVF, my abdomen was seriously in pain the entire first tri and then some due to gas/constipation. I looked huge for how far along I was. I'm 23 weeks now, and have been pretty comfortable the last few weeks, mostly since the OB put me on Colace (100 mg) twice a day!
5th Pregnancy: Ectopic, 2 doses of Methotrexate unsuccessful, surgery 4/10/12, right tube removed.
Tried Letrozole January 2013-July 2013 (including 2 IUIs), all BFN. After 2 1/2 years of trying for child #2, decided to "give up" after July cycle, based on AMA.
August 16, 2013: BFP our first month of "not trying!" Still in shock. Beta #1 (14dpo): 183. Beta #2 (17dpo): 611. Ultrasound 8/30/13: baby measured 6 weeks, 1 day, heart rate of 118 bpm! Ultrasound 9/13/13: 8 weeks, heart rate of 176! Baby is due 4/26/14
Welcome! Waiting is definitely the worst part. I feel like I'm still impatiently waiting for appointments. My next one isn't until the end of January! Wah! Good luck at your appointment!

Welcome and congrats! Yeah, the gas/bloating is the easy part - just wait.
The quads thing is pretty funny - and HIGHLY unlikely. LOL. They are similar to my betas, though - and I've got twins. Just sayin'.

Congratulations and welcome! I was really gassy and bloated for the first 2-3 weeks, and it was kind of bad. I think we are all nervous in the early stages, I know we are! We have our first u/s tomorrow, so really, really hoping everything is on track and ok.
My gas went away, only to be replaced by other symptoms--hunger pains, extreme fatigue at times, and overall queasy but not quite nauseous.
Gas is totally normal as is bloating. Since you are getting relief from your gas letting loose (tee he), I would assume it's not bloating pains from the ivf drugs? I was so bloated from mine until about 10 weeks.
I agree with the PP who said that it's difficult to go in for early ultrasounds as you end up worrying between them. By the time you go in, there will be no doubts for you and you would expect to see a heartbeat and get an accurate gestational age.

@BBColt78 - I think my bloat is a combo of IVF ovary stimulation bloat and gas. I was not prepared at all for the IVF bloat - and it had just started started to go down a little when it was time for my transfer, but now it's back up. Today I am not "letting loose" as much but am still hugely bloated. So weird and likely confusing for people who know me but no ones said anything about it. Trying to get up the gumption to go buy some bigger, looser clothes at Target tonight!
@auntJessy - I also think quads is VERY VERY unlikely however apparently DH does not. He may be trying to psych himself out in case it is twins so then twins will seem "easy" compared with quads. That's exciting that our betas are similar and you have twins. I would be so excited to see twins (and scared also!).

Girl, I was wearing maternity clothes at about 6 weeks with my IVF baby. The bloat was awful. I love Target maternity or one of the Be Bands they sell will allow you to unbutton your pants and wear your normal clothes. I remember those days
