Has anyone packed their hospital bag yet? I'm 5.75 weeks away from my due date, this is my 5th child. I'm thinking I should probably get myself prepared. My youngest is 2, she came a week early naturally.
My hospital bag is 80% packed; there are some things I use every day that I will need to stick in there last minute. My EDD is in just over 6 weeks. DS came at 37w1d and I had not packed a single thing when my water broke at home after dinner. I wanted to be prepared early this time.
I packed mine this weekend after a not so good NST. Of course, it needs some things I use every day and us still sitting in our bedroom which won't do us any good if I go into labor at work. (We live in a big city, DH works on the opposite side I do and our hospital isn't close to either of us).
After a weekend in L&D, my bag and DS's bags are packed. Aside from phone, iPad, and camera - it's all set. DH will pack a few things on the way out the door, but he'll be coming back to the house during my stay, so he doesn't need a whole lot.
I think this has been asked before... but what kind of clothing are you packing in your bag? I'm not sure what kind of PJ's I should take... I haven't purchased any nursing tops yet either! Eeek!!!!
I have nursing PJs (pants, nursing tank, robe), yoga pants, nursing tanks, nursing sleep-bras. Might pack a zip hoodie for the ride home. I imagine the majority of my recovery time will be spent in yoga pants, nursing tank, and robe. Worked great with DS1.
I keep saying I'm going to pack, but there's still things I need. I'm doing a Target run tomorrow to get some new lounge pants, a robe and new slippers. Our childbirth instructor also mentioned bringing suckers to have during labor.
I have my list done and started a pile on LOs changing table but not even close to done. LO is all packed. DH and DS aren't packed at all! Luckily for DS he will be with my parents and they have a lot of stuff at their house. My EDD is about 7 weeks from now but DS came 1 week early... Def need to get my butt in gear.
Most of my bag is almost finished.. I have a ton of travel size shampoos, soaps, toothpaste, a new toothbrush, button down nightgown (2), pads, nursing sports bra (3), slippers, socks, and a brush, I just have to figure out what I want to wear home from the hospital. The only things I would need to pack is the baby's stuff, which I will do when I actually get to washing stuff lol!
I'm feeling a major nesting urge coming on. Making DH get down all the baby stuff from the attic so I can put it away for DS3, etc. I think I'll pack the bag this week.

I have 3 sets of clothes packed (with the timing of DS I was in labor overnight, then stayed two more nights so there were 3 days to get dressed for) : one set of loose soft cotton pjs with a button front shirt, one nursing tank + cotton pj pants with a nice loose waistline, and one nursing tank + sweat pants combo to come home in. Also bringing grippy socks.
I'm not bringing bras - the nursing tanks will be plenty sufficient for me personally while in the hospital. I'm not bringing an extra sweater because I'll wear one when we leave the house. Also, not bringing undies because I will wear the mesh panties or Depends the whole time.

This is what I will be doing as well. I brought pads (depends) just in case I didn't like the ones the hospital provided. But this momma will be wearing her depends.
The only things not really in the bag are my clothes and electronics. I don't know how many days of clothes to bring. I'm also wondering if the clothes are different c-section vs. vaginal. I ordered a bunch of nursing things from GAP but haven't even opened the package to see what sizing is like. I honestly am not sure what sizing I even need for post partum.
My advice for c/s is pj pants with drawstring- not elastic waist. Nursing tank with either button up pj top over or a light sweater. This would also work after vaginal delivery.
I keep thinking I need to get a start on this. I have a small bag packed for when DH was overseas, but it just contains 1 change of clothes and travel size toiletries (to be useful in case of pre-term issues). I need to start over and pack for a full-term delivery. We have just been so dang busy lately! Maybe I'll get my list started today!

When should your bag be packed? (Sorry if this has been asked)
I would say sometime before week 37.... But everyone is different. I am a FTM, so I likely wont go before my induction date at 39 weeks. But its still nice to know just in case that everything is in the car ready to go.
I have an empty bag waiting in the nursery...Oh and the Viacord kit is next to it. That's as far as my "packing" got. My shower is next Sat, so I'm guessing after that I'll start throwing things together.
I have a running list on my iPad and I plan to purchase the things I need to from that list later this week. Then I'll probably start packing those things (things I won't need at home) soon after they are purchased. I also want to get the baby's diaper bag packed for the hospital (I'm using it for her clothes, blankets, etc.). I want to be completely packed by 35ish weeks, except for things I'll still need like my glasses, chargers, iPad, phone, etc.

I have one for me and one for baby. I need to pack for our fur-baby's still, but that's it. Obviously there are still things I need to use, so I put a sticky note on the bag with the items I still need to remember. If anyone touches my sticky note there will be serious consequences.
February 2014 siggy challenge (Feb 2014 BMB): Ugly Cry
I have a list made and went through it to figure out what I need to buy that I don't already have. Really need to get my butt in gear and pack one with things I'm not still currently using since I work 3 days a week (plan on working till I can't or till I go into labor) and DH works crazy hours. At least I would have most things packed and can take with me when I go to work just in case...DH or someone we trust can come to the house and get chargers and other things. I don't want to chance coming to grab things from the house if I'm not home when I go into labor because we are about 1 hour and 15 mins from the hospital.
On a similar preparedness idea... My boyfriend declared yesterday that he'll make sure that the truck has a full tank of gas at all times, and that there is cash in the house in case I'm home alone and need to call a cab.
I'm very proud of him for coming up with this plan, because he's usually rather disorganized. I'm also going to make sure that the camera battery is charged at all times! (There are no pics of my university graduation due to this boo boo)
Well I bought two new nursing tanks and put them on a shelf with a pair of old yoga pants. I showed it to dh and said these are what needs to come with. Dd has nothing, neither does the dog. I figure whatever I need can be brought after dd2 is born if things happen too fast. I don't need clothes to give birth.
Hallelujah, it's a miracle, I have children AND a signature!
They usually say to bring an outfit that you would fit into when you were about 6 months pregnant. You still have excess fluid retention, and might not fit into your prepregnancy clothes right away. So comfortable PJ's, but also something to wear home too.
I have the duffel bag out for the 'labor' bag' and have started getting things together for it-PJs, got a comfy new robe for Xmas, etc. I have heard a few people recommend to have a post-labor bag that you can keep in the car for DH to get later as well so you're not hauling in a bunch of stuff all at once. I'm planning on doing that.
Something to keep in mine. My hospital informed us to make sure Dad has a pair of closed toed shoes...just in case of a c/s. We live in Texas so flip flops are common year round!
