Yesterday was DS's first birthday, we made it to a year! We had a couple of small challenges along the way, but here we are! DS had breathing issues when he was born, so he spent 1 1/2 days in the Special Care Nursery. I couldn't even hold him until 12 hours later. I pumped every 2-3 hours and when I finally got to hold him he didn't seem interested in nursing. The nurses encouraged us to hold him skin-to-skin and that finally got him going. Once we got him to latch on he was a natural and it was smooth sailing from there. At two months we discovered blood in his stool and I went dairy/soy free for 7-8 months until that cleared up. Right now we are dealing with thrush, which has hopefully (knock on wood) cleared.
My hope is to make it to two years! Thank you everyone for your wonderful advice!
