Puking baby...someone help!!!

My son is 3 1/2 months old and he pukes ALL DAY LONG!!! I've seen 2 different doctors and they keep telling me that it's normal and as long as he's not losing weight that he's fine. They put him on Zantac (for reflux) but it doesn't seem to be helping. Is there anything that anyone can suggest doing? Is this REALLY normal??

  • Zantac typically doesn't help spitting up, it mostly just helps manage your LO's pain. It's completely normal and I have an incredibly spitty baby too, some days I feel like there's no way she's even keeping anything down. But she's not in pain, she's happy, and she's growing and gaining weight just fine. So there's no reason to worry.

If you don't trust the two doctors you have seen than keep seeking opinions until you find someone you do trust. But I guarantee you that unless LO is not gaining weight or they are clearly in pain or having other issues than just about every doctor is going to tell you the exact same thing.

Puking or spitting up? Two different things. Is he screaming? Or does he seem ok when it happens?

This is exactly right, puking would consist of very forceful (like all the way across the room) and extreme volume. Usually what looks like a whole bottle is really only a couple tablespoons of actual formula because it's mixing with stomach juices. If they don't seem to be in pain than it's probably just fine.
  • LO never "pukes" but he does spit up often. We switched to Similac Spit up and so the pace method w feeding so it's been very helpful. We also keep him upright and let him digest etc. bottom line, babies spit up.

Like pp, if your baby is showing signs of discomfort and actually vomiting, you should seek more medical advice
