Just heard this. So disappointed (though I guess they are open in the morning and then after 7pm or something and it is only the MK ones, not Epcot? I'm confused & can't seem to find a map on their website)
Dunno, I just happened upon a news thing about it, it says 1130-7pm on weekdays for 3 months for maintenance, just the magic kingdom rails> i'm totally disappointed as we chose our hotel largely based on monorail access & we are only going to MK.
I bet! You definitely pay for the convenience of the monorail. What a bummer. Wonder if they would let you change your reservation to perhaps save yourself some money?
I can't change, flights are booked, it is the perfect time for us to go but you can bet I am going to call & complain and hope for some sort of compensation b/c that should have been communicated & the news releases I'm seeing are from just about a week or so ago.
I'm not cancelling (esp considering my flights are booked, i'm paid in full and my mother also paid to go for 2 nights) but I think it stinks. It is not posted anywhere on their official websites and nothign has been communicated to me about it from them, I happened upon it when searching for other things, it was posted on other websites. Those hotels are not cheap & I chose the hotel b/c of the monorail so I wouldn't have to take buses. And, my 2 4+ yr olds cannot last at the park from morning until after 7pm not to mention we made a dinner show reservation for earlier in the evening & now will have to leave the park even earlier to get to it. I think it stinks- end of the world, of course not, but still a damper on the vacation esp if waits for buses & taxis are long & I have tired cranky kids.
I meant if they would let you change your hotel reservation to some place cheaper if the monorail will be out of commission.
I'm sure they would but not sure how much availability there would be less than 6 weeks out not to mention I made a dinner show reserv at our own hotel again for convenience. Argh. Whatever, it'll be fun, I'm just annoyed.
Polynesian...we are only planning to go to MK so that is part of the disappointing part. I know we can do the boats & I bet the kids will love them, I just hope that they run enough extra to compensate for the monorails. We'll go back again more than once I'm sure (we're only going three days & both sets of grandparents are in FL in winter so there will be future trips)...
We stayed at the Wildnerness Lodge in November and loved the boat service to the Magic Kingdom. We could even take our stroller on the boat without folding it down. Perfect because our 4 year old was lulled to sleep each night on the boat ride.

We stayed at the Polynesian last year and ended up using the boat service more than the monorail. It'll be fine.
