food!

My LO doesn't like anything, haha!! Is anyone else in this boat? IF he happens to eat something, he will only eat it once, the next day he spits it out! I don't get it! He also only likes to eat cereal, he refuses anything else I offer him. Please tell me I'm not the only one..... lol

Re: food!

  • A hates everything. I have tried purees from the store and homemade food and she refuses to eat. She clamps her gums shut and smiles, and will not eat almost anything.

The last week or so she has eaten a small amount of barley cereal in the evening.(about a teaspoon in total for an entire meal, and I was so happy she ate I was calling to tell people) She opens her mouth a tiny bit and chews the food off the spoon. Different people have tried to feed her and they have had the same result.

I am getting a bit worried because she needs to eat. (According to me and the doctor) She nurses as much as she wants but I have no idea when this food thing will get better.

  • i've heard that sometimes babies just don't want to have anything to do with the purees and would rather go straight to the finger foods. Sometimes S likes things one day and changes her mind about it the next day, I think that's pretty normal. You could always just keep trying? sometimes they take a while to get used to the consistency, texture, etc. And sometimes they just don't like it, no biggie. There's a lot of foods that we don't like to eat, so while it's a good idea to introduce them to all kinds of things, that doesn't mean they have to like it.

  • A hated cereal even when I mixed applesauce or anything in it. She loves purees and the two fruits she's eaten. My friends daughter had a rough time with it so she would make everything herself and add a little spice in it. Ex: sweet potatoes she added cinnamon. Couldn't hurt to try!

I have heard of adding spices too. Maybe your kid has very distinguishing tastes and will be a world class chef one day! B-)

  • I would try to add just a tiny bit of puree each time you feed him and then keep upping it.
  • My LO is the same way- one day likes it and the next day doesn't.
