We are supposed to bring something for a party tomorrow night (kids and adults), and I have some ideas, but they are kind of lame. Anyone have any good ideas or making anything good for NYE?
@alli2672, here is the meatball one:
1 bag meatballs (I use turkey, the Jenny O ones)
1 jar sauerkraut
1 can (whole cranberry) cranberry sauce
1 bottle chili sauce
1 cup brown sugar
Mix it all in crock pot and cook all day. They are always a hit!!!!
That sounds great. My uncle just gave me a bunch of sauerkraut too. It sounds kind of like the grape jelly meatballs, but a little different.
IIRC, layer cream cheese (can add appropriate herbs to it), hummus, tomato, cucumber, green onion, black olives, & feta. Chop veggies obviously. Serve with pita chips or wedges from pita bread. I like it way better than any Mexican or taco layer dip.
First fish now ricotta? @Auroraloo IDK about you anymore...
Took the words right outta my mouth...

Actually my one recipe for white lasagna calls for cottage cheese instead of ricotta - it's a cooks illustrated one, so I know they've tested it a million ways and wrote up the best one.
Cottage cheese is NEVER better than ricotta. /gavel
Re: appetizer for NYE
can I get the recipe?
for adults we are doing spicy artichoke dip and pita, hummus and tapenade, veg tray, lil smokies in BBQ sauce in crock pot.
edit- spelling
I want the calzone roll up recipe. That sounds yummy.
Awesome! We always have company over for sporting events and usually put out picky food like that. Will have to add that to our lineup.
