Redirecting "I can't"

Bradley (2.5) is starting to say "I can't" a lot.

I encourage him to try and tell him that I think he can, but I was wondering if Parenting had some other strategies I could try.

    DS2 will still do this when he wants me to do something for him. I just agree with him. Then he is determined to prove me wrong and completes the task himself. I don't know if this would work for a younger LO though. Probably just keep encouraging him.

    There is! Don't know which episode off hand, but the song goes something like... "keep trying, you'll get better!"

    I try to say something like "it's ok if you can't. It's still important to try."

    I want to emphasize that it's not success that is so important, but effort.
