Work out clothes

I scrolled through a few pages so please excuse me if this is a duplicate post. I am finding that some of my workout pants are starting to cut into my belly a little and it is a little less flattering. What are you wearing for workout pants? I know my shirts soon also will be a little snug on my belly, well within a month or so. I'm curious what are you wearing for workout attire?

Re: Work out clothes

  • I haven't changed yet but thought what I wear might work. I wear cotton shorts a size larger (normally Soffee brand but just because it's often on sale at Dicks) so you can roll the waistband to sit lower. I wear Hanes tank tops on top.

  • I have some yoga pants that sit low enough I have been able to get by. JCPenney had a great sale on lightweight loose shirts, I picked up 3 in a larger size, and am hoping they last me through. I would check them out if you have one near you, about two years ago I was able to get a TON of new workout clothing right after new years for very little money.
  • I got some looser shirts from ON and my capris from ON should fit for a while as they have a high rise.  Nike Pro Combat capris still fit me fine as well.
I really like the VS Knockout Capri - just ordered a pair in 1 size up for future as they are on sale now.  They have a high rise as well.
Not sure what I will wear when I'm too big for these but I imagine these should be good for a few months.
  • I saw online at old navy they had some maternity active wear. So far I have just gone up a size. My husband got me a few new things for Christmas.
  • My problem seems to be finding shirts that are long enough to cover my ginormous boobs and my belly.

This is me too! I am still nursing and I am a 36i. I have a couple tops from target that work but will not last long :(

  • Jockey makes some awesome leggings with a wide waist band. I sized up and bought 6 pair.

  • I'm running into the same issue. Haven't worked out for the last 2 weeks due to family in town and the holidays...not sure how things are going to fit later this week when I finally get back in the gym since I'm starting to notice more of a bump. Old Navy active wear is awesome but it does cut me in a bad spot. I'm thinking about picking up some XL or even XXL ones from there and see how they work out. As for tops, I tend to wear mine longer anyways, so they should last me for a good while. Try Sports Authority's or Dick's clearance racks, you should be able to find some longer and larger tops.

  • Gap makes some great maternity workout pants. I love them because they feel like they will stay up but they sit underneath your belly. For tops, the Liz Lange Maternity tanks from Target are both soft and long enough to cover the growing belly. I've found that I feel much better about my growing body by wearing clothes that are meant for my new shape instead of just sizing up which makes me feel like I've just gained weight.

    Here are links to both:
  • I'm still using my normal stuff but I agree on the capris cutting in a bit and getting uncomfortable. I'll check out old navy for some maternity capris in another month or so. Since it's so cold here, all of my compression gear has worked well and kind of holds me in and is more comfortable than the looser stuff.

Idk about pants, I am almost shopping for new ones. I have heard old navy has some maternity yoga pants.

With my last pg I went with larger running shorts. But it is too cold for shorts now.

For shirts I bought some racer back tanks that are loose fitting at H&M in their essentials section. $4 each, wore all pg and I still wear them to work out in.

  • I bought a pair of maternity yoga pants from thredup.com  (online consignment).  They are quite comfy.  As for shirts, I'll probably use a t-shirt.  Notice I said, I will.  I have not worked out since October, but just got my prenatal yoga class doctor waiver signed so plan to ease back into the habit this week and next.

  • For ladies struggling to find tops that fit their boobs and belly comfortably, Lululemon makes some workout tops that have built in sports bras (tight at top) but arw really loose and "baggy" immediately under the top. They also have a draw string at the bottom of the top to cinch it as tight as you need/want. I have also found some awesome knockoffs of these shirts at Target and Old Navy. As for workout bottoms, most brands make a low rise style and some have comfy wide waist bands that seem to be working well for me so far.
  • Is anyone lululemon fans?!?
Wondering which fits are your faves that last through pregnancy.
  • Victoria's Secret and Old Navy both have foldover yoga pants/capris that are my pregnancy go-to bottoms. VS doesn't do maternity, but that hasn't been an issue for me with the capris I have. I've just started wearing ON maternity workout tops now that my usual tops are too short. Can't beat the ON maternity clearance section!

  • I just got some GapFit gfast maternity leggings and a tank.  The leggings are okay.  Definitely do NOT size up.  I got a size S and at this point could probably use a size XS.  They are fine for low impact stuff like walking and lifting weights, but I ran in them the other day and was constantly pulling them up.  Pretty annoying.

I also got some compression capris from Old Navy.  Let me reiterate again- do not size up!  Run really big.  And the fabric is thin and not compressive, at all.

I'm spoiled, I am used to my Lululemon gear.  I'll keep wearing it but it is starting to cut in and not be super comfortable, though not as uncomfortable as pants that won't stay up and are thin and not supportive.  Just my .02!

  • Oh!  Wanted to add- the GapFit Breathe maternity racerback tank I got, is awesome.  The fabric is super soft and I think the size S is true to size.  Nice and long, I am sure it will fit through my entire pregnancy.  I liked it so much I immediately went online and ordered the long sleeved version, I am impatiently waiting for it to arrive.  :)

  • I'm still in my Target running capris and Nike pro combat running tights which both have wide waistbands and are working well. Tops wise, though, I need some advice on where to get some stretchy/tighter fitting tops that will accommodate my belly for yoga and running. I can't stand the loose or "bubble" style tops that tie at the bottom.

  • Old Navy maternity yoga pants are great! They're also cotton which is good for my climate and not common in workout or maternity clothes. I'm having trouble with tops. I actually do Pilates and yoga so I need tops that are a little bit tighter and will stay in place when I'm in different positions. In general, ON does have maternity workout tops too.
