Uncontrollable shaking during my c-section

Sorry if this has already been discussed, I'm too tired to go back and search for previous threads. Anyways, I went in for an induction last Sunday and by Tues still couldn't progress past 9cm so my Dr said I needed a c-section. I already had an epidural so they just had to inject the anesthesia into that site. A few minutes later my head started shaking and I thought maybe I was getting the chills. Then my whole upper body started shaking uncontrollably. I kept asking if it was normal and no one would really answer me. I shook so hard thru the whole procedure and couldn't even look over at my baby. It took about an hour in recovery for it to stop. Did anyone else experience this ? When DH saw me he thought I was having a seizure it was so bad. Now my shoulders and neck are crazy sore too. I never knew this was a side effect of csections and thought it was odd not nurse or doctor told me it could happen.

    This happened to me.. They have me something to stop it because the dr was having trouble stitching me up because I was shaking so hard! Not sure what it was from I couldn't feel any pain and I wasn't nervous as the baby was already out and ok! So I would assume its normal!!

    I wonder if it was due to the epidural. I delivered vaginally but the epidural made me shake uncontrollably too. My whole body shook though not just my upper body. The nurses told my husband it was a normal reaction.

    Completely normal. I had an ECS and the same thing happened to me. It never stopped until I did skin to skin with LO

    I'm pretty sure it's a shock reaction. Your body is being cut open. It's reacting to serious trauma. Though you're not feeling anything, your body is still reacting. This is completely normal and a healthy reaction. Yes, it sucks and makes you a little more nervous during the procedure, it's still a normal reaction. Also, operating rooms need to be kept at a very cold temperature so bacteria cannot grow in such an environment, so on top of the shock reaction, you could have also been shivering.

    I delivered vaginally but shook so bad with each contraction. I'm pretty sure it's my body's way of dealing with extreme pain.

    It's the increased adrenaline surging through your body. I had them too (vaginal birth, with epi, but, I had them before I got my epi, got worse as I progressed) totally normal during labor. Sorry it caused such painful after effects for you.

    I have had that with all three of my deliveries, no csections but I did have the epidural eachtime.

    Yup I shook during my csection too and on and off for days after. Not sure from the pain or stress or medication but it sucked.

    I wasn't strapped down this time and while I still shook, it wasn't nearly as bad. My legs were strapped down, so I didn't fall off the table! LOL I wondered how that worked, I was very afraid I would shake off the table the first time. I was freezing though this time again. They put like 4 heated blankets on me and LO in recovery. It felt great.

    I started shaking after they pulled The baby out already. It's very common in both c sections and vaginal births. It's just a reaction to shock to the body.

    Yep the second they said csection I was shaking from adrenaline. I was also itchy as all hell from the epidural. Then when they strapped me to the table I started shaking harder and they gave me lemon flavored meds that made me throw up instantly. The whole time I had to reassure my SO that I couldn't feel a thing and that the shaking was from meds. It stopped in recovery rather quickly.

    Unfortunately normal. I was shaking and vomiting pretty bad with my first CS. Even in recovery, my husband had to hold DS to my chest because I didn't feel safe holding him. This time the shakes were better but my vomiting was worse. Its strange if you aren't expecting it.

    Delivered vaginally and I shook so bad that my husband said watching me shake was by far the hardest part for him.

    I shook once I got the pitocin started and that lasted an hour and sucked. Then 3 hours later I was headed for a c section and shook again then vomiting, so much fun.

    My anesthesiologist was awesome thi time. We talked the whole time so when I felt the nausea rising as with previous sections, he gave me a cocktail of Zofran + , and rubbed my head talking softly and explaining everything they were doing (had a little more going on in there this time!), so even though there were other unpleasant sensations to deal with, I didn't throw up. Thankful, because although I couldn't 'feel' pain, I was very aware of the tugging and working they were doing. It was intensely uncomfortable. Confusing, because it was almost pain but not. That's weird just reading it.
    Anyway, I'm glad I don't have to do this again. Only way for me to have babies, but I'm happier than ever that it's over and I have my sweety.

    I didn't have a c-section but once I hit 10 cms and it was go time I shook like mad and my teeth were chattering uncontrollably until I started pushing. I had an epidural so maybe it has to do with that?

    Same thing happened with me, completely normal but still really scary when it's happening to you,

    So normal i was totally shaking and so tired and sleepy. Even though they told me it was OK to fall I was so freaked to fall asleep bc i was anemic and remember just trying the hardest to stay awake. I had the shakes for like two hours afterwards. Totally was freaking me out but normal

    I had the shaking too...and the feeling of them working and the jositling around. Recovery was so freaky too with shaking and waiting for the numbness to wear off. Was anxious in recovery and couldn't chill out as I just wanted to get to my baby!

    I had an in-medicated vaginal birth and shook for about an hour afterwards. It is all the adrenaline getting out of your body. Totally normal and natural, but totally weird. They should really tell people about this before they give birth.
