That Was Easy...Updated

Not! I took the boys for their six month blood work and allergy test this morning. In all honesty I thought no big deal it's just another heel stick. Boy was I wrong. Instead it was a blood draw just like you or I would get. D was a trooper and poor C, he was a real trooper getting stuck twice and being told to come back Monday. I wanted to cry with them.
Update: I took C back today and he was stuck three times and no success. They told me I could bring him back tomorrow, but I told no to give his little arms a break. We are going to try a different lab next.

OMG - poor things. That would have made me so upset. I was terrified of having blood taken until I was an adult.

They did a blood draw like that at the twins' one year appt. I had just started a new job, so DH took them instead of me. He said they had a horrible time with Molly. The next day we get a call that Molly's hemoglobin is "critically low" and we need to take her to the ER at Children's ASAP. DH left work, drive an hour south to pick her up, drove 2 hrs north to CHOA, sat there with her for two hours, and $2000 later they say "she's fine, your pedi took a bad blood draw". The next person to come at Molly's arm with a full-on needle is gonna get punched in the face.
    Big ((hugs)) to you, mama!

KZAW so sorry to hear that happened.

When I took LO to children's I thought they were gonna do a heel stick like the nicu no way they did it big girl style and I thought she was gonna flip but she didn't. The reason why is because two techs came in one held her in the correct position and the other drew the blood. I think it's important to ask the person doing it how many times they have done infants.

That sucks! My pedi knows the hours of the tech who is good with kids and tells us to go during those hours and ask for her. Watching your babies cry is so sad. :(
