Want To Plan City Break W/o LO - 16 mos

I've reported this here from another board for more specialised advice! I wanted to see what other parents thought about this. My DD is currently 9m3w old, but will be 16 months old on my husband's 30th birthday, for which I would like to surprise him with a city break - just the two of us. I didn't know if she would be too young to be left with our family for 3 nights, or whether it would be okay. She is our first child. I am also breastfeeding and plan to carry on for as long as she wants, so I wasn't sure how this would affect that. We are currently BF about 4x per day, but will move to 3x next month when I go back to work and she is 10 mos, and I was hoping she would be down to 2 (morning and night) by 16 months. (I'm also going back to work in a week, so technically it will be 2x a day, with an expressed bottle when I'm in work.)That would mean only having to express twice a day while we are gone. It's not an ultra-important thing for us to go, but it is a special birthday and we desperately need some time alone! We tried this once before with the baby and it was a total nightmare, so bringing her is not an option! Just curious as this stage. Thanks!

  • At 16 mo it'll be fine, and you can just pump 2x/day while you are gone.

But it concerns me that at 10mo you are only giving your LO 3 feedings of BM a day - most calories should be from breastmilk or formula for the first year, which usually means at least 5 feedings a day. So is she getting two formula bottles?
We are currently doing 4x a day, but my plan is to do morning and night when I return to work next month, and to pump once a day at work. I was told I would need to pump during my lunch at work, which means I will only get once a day to do so during my shift. In the UK there is actually no legislation that states that mothers must receive paid breaks to express. My main concern was whether it would be feasible to be away from her for that long without it affecting our BF relationship.
