Bleeding for the first time

Literally an hour after we told the in laws, I used the rest room and there was a little bit of blood.

We had sex last night, so I'm not sure if that would be the cause.

It was just a little bit and I have slight cramping but nothing bad.

My blood work was all outstanding just a few days ago. Has anyone experienced this?

Re: Bleeding for the first time

  • It could have been from sex. I've heard that happens. Hopefully that's all it was!

  • I've experienced a lot of bleeding with this pregnancy.  I guess it's easier for me to tell you that it can be totally normal, yet I can't seem to take my own advice *sigh*.  Sex can def cause some bleeding, it's totally normal.  If it's brown blood, it's old blood and not concerning.  If it's heavy, bright red period-like  bleeding, it's worth a call or visit to your doc.

  • I was diagnosed with a small sch. Are they 'resolved' by bleeding out? Could this be the reason?

Based upon the [overly] extensive google research I've been doing today on sch, yes! Sometimes they bleed out and sometimes the body absorbs it.

  • I would assume maybe from the sex :)

  • I had light bleeding last week - I was already not having sex because I had had some brown spotting before and hadn't been to my regular OB yet.  I went to the ER to be sure since it was brighter red, and though he's not sure what caused it, he didn't seem to think it was a major concern (unless it gets really heavy OR is accompanied by cramping).  It can be caused by hormonal changes or a polyp (he seemed to think this might be the case for me, and that the blood might actually be coming from my cervix).  I would talk to your OB about it for sure, but it's probably related to the sch, in which case you should probably just rest until you get checked again.

  • Not to be chicken little, but even brown blood is worth a call to your OB. This is how we discovered our missed m/c. Either way, if you call and they draw some blood work for you, you will get some peace of mind. I hope everything is alright.

  • I had the exact same thing happen to me. I went to the ER on the 18th and they said my cervix was open and i was most likely going to miscarry. I was so devastated but when i went back two days later for a check up the ultrasound and blood tests came back normal. My new doctor said it's probably nothing to worry about unless you are bleeding heavily or continuously bleeding for a few days. good luck!
