LO started solids with oatmeal yesterday. He's always been a frequent pooper (2-4 times a day) but hasn't gone since the oatmeal. I was going to give him more this morning. Would you go ahead and give it or wait for a dirty diaper first?
Following. Sorry I'm no help, just as curious as you are. J has always been either infrequent (once a week) or every other day alternating. After sweet potato he went everyday. Now after avocado its been almost four days. I thinking back to EBF until he goes?? But I'm not sure. Didn't try oatmeal but from my understanding it can bind them up a bit. Possibly a good thing for a frequent pooper!
@Cricket81, I would stop. My LO is formula fed and when I started oatmeal it really constipated her. Formula is fortified with iron and so is oatmeal, so it did not go well. If when LO does poop, it is normal consistency (not rabbit pellets) then I would continue with the oatmeal. It was definitely clear to me that she was stopped up when she pooped out lil balls. (
I would stop. John got really constipated. He never had a hard belly, but he started screaming/crying/bringing his knees to his chest while trying to poop. It was heartbreaking.
I'd probably try a P food so that you have it in rotation to help with constipation. It's hard to say if he's really constipated or just going through the normal messing up of digestion that comes with solids but it sucks so bad when they're constipated, I don't blame you for maybe backing off.
Thanks everyone. I gave him just a tiny bit this morning and then he had a major blowout this afternoon. I think we will do a real food tomorrow (avocado or sweet potato) and see how that goes. Thanks for all the advice!
