too much $$

Since I didn't get to do a confession yesterday and I'm not joining that mess now, I just spent what I think might possibly have been, too much moolah on clothes for S. She's starting to bust out of her 6month clothes and had very little 9 month clothing to move into. So, she and I went shopping today. We did hit some good after Christmas sales and one bag came from burlington. So, you know I got a lot for my money there. Where do you draw the line when purchasing clothing for lo? Is there a line?

Ps. I'm still only halfway finished reading the fffc thread. I had to open a new window on my phone so I wouldn't loose my place on it again when checking other threads.

  • There is no line! Lol

  • No. There's no line. It's an addiction.

I am *trying* to start focusing on only buying what she needs. She is still in 3mo clothing and we have a ton of 6mo stuff waiting to be worn, but I know we will need PJs. So for example today we were at BRU and there were clothes I really wanted to buy her, but instead of getting an outfit she doesn't need, I filled my urge by buying a 6mo sleeper.

  • I've been trying to only buy what he needs.. But somehow his needs and my wants never marry up...

  • My H seems to think there's a line, I (very blatantly) disagree with him.

  • I try to buy almost everything on sale, unless I absolutely don't want DS living without it ;) I've just learned not to buy too many outfits because it seems like he's outgrowing them before he gets to wear them.
  • As long as my baby gets good wear from it, I consider it worth it.

My little man is so short he fits into 3mo length, but fat and is busting the seams. And his melon head is hard to put things over it.
  • I am a huge sale shopper.... I just ordered a ton of stuff from Carter's that was on sale. She is getting to the verge of not being able to fit her 3 mo clothes, and we don't have that many 3-6 sizes in her closet so I just opted for the 6 mo size.

    But limits? No.

  • This is the very first time I get to dress a girl. As the other ladies said, no such line exists.

  • My goal is to open up a baby boutique within the next few years. Honestly, based on this website alone...I just know I'll make BANK! I mean, who doesn't like baby clothes?
Dude. I'd totally buy that shit out of your boutique. You got style.
  • I did get to put some of my shopaholic urges to good use. My bff irl is pregnant with her first and due in March. I bought her the most adorable dress with, get this, a matching head band and Mary janes. The head band and the Mary Janes match. The dress just coordinates. I actually found the shoe /headband set first and went on a search for something to go with them. They are Black with pink polka dots. Tots adorables!!
I almost squueee ed in the middle of Burlington.

@Californiadream87, I think that sounds like a cute store. I would shop there, if I had a boy.

  • Maybe it's bc I have all boys, but I just stick to the necessities.

And I really don't care if anyone matches. Clothes are not a battle I fight regularly (more for the big one than the babies - they're pretty agreeable at this age ;)

  • I am working off all of DS1's old wardrobe and I totally overbought for him so DS2 has a great wardrobe.

I love Children's Place and Kohls Jumping Beans line. Not too fancy but I love how they have lots of sort of matching things my style challenged DH can manage to put together.

And they are so cheap I don't need a limit.

I did buy DS1 two pairs of flannel lined jeans at Janie and Jack recently that I'm feeling a little buyers remorse over. But it's freaking cold here in indiana. And those jeans are cute!

  • Limit on how much you spend on clothes for LO???? What's that????

  • A Line??? Probably not one as far as I am concerned. As long as you are living within your means, then I think you are good. I am horrible though and just realized DS is about to out grow a ton of clothes that he has wore maybe 2 or 3 times. I just cannot help myself. @Californiadream87 I would totes shop at your boutique. Don't tell anyone but I really am trying to find some cute shoes for DS to wear with all of his adorable outfits.

  • No limit!! I try to make sure it's on sale and if I have the urge I will shop ahead in size. Like right now we have a lot of 6-9 month clothes so I will start looking for 12 month clothes. This statisfies my need but I don't wind up with outfits she will never wear.
  • Minority here, but this girl has some student loans to pay back. I don't spend more than $5 for any one item.

That being said, Joel wears 12mo stuff (!!!!!!) and nothing has for for more than a month. We also had a lot of hand me downs from friends (who apparently were fond of Ralph Lauren and polo!).
    Married DH <3 : 7/7/12; 3 fur babies (2 dogs and 1 cat)
DS born 9/3/13; DD born 7/22/15; LO due 5/28/18
FS (age 5) and FD (age 2) to become AS/AD very soon!

  • I have spent a total of $7 on clothes for LO thus far. Between my MIL, mom, and other family, I never have to buy her anything. We inherited a HUGE box of clothes from my SIL. LO is still in mostly 3m stuff, and has a good selection of 6m waiting. I feel she will be in that for a while too, by then, I will have another 9m collection. My biggest need is PJ's. She is outgrowing them to fast....my LO may be wearing her Christmas PJ in March...LOL

  • I don't buy much for him at all, but he's wearing almost all hand me downs from DS1. And he had a TON of clothes so he has way more than enough. Oddly, DH is the one with the shopping issue. He trolls Gilt and Zulily for their daily sales and buys DS1 new things regularly. It's his deal. I figure both boys will wear them so it's worth it.
  • Why make a line? Spend what you can afford. Go big or go home!!

  • I am not sure of this "line" you speak of. Both DH and I are bad for buying her clothes every time we go out shopping. I can't resist. They are just too cute.

I will fly there from Philadelphia. I'm obsessed with dressing my lo like a little man! He looks so darn cute in grown up outfits. Shoes included :)
  • I'm lucky and haven't had to buy barely any clothes yet. She's still in 3 months so we've actually got use out of all our gifted clothes. I am secretly, ok not so secretly, excited about having to go clothes shopping when she moves to 6 and 9 month.
