Cosleepers

Quinn is 13 days old and my Arms reach cosleeper is much lower than my bed. It isn't unsafe but I also can't easily comfort him so I find myself up holding him far more than my sanity will allow for much longer. I'm afraid to bed share but I'm also losing my mind. Has anyone bought the Arm's reach extenders? They get very mixed reviews on amazon and some say the cosleeper began collapsing so that makes me nervous. Anyone else have cosleeper recommendations?

This was of course one of the only things I said I "never" wanted to do. I still don't want to do this but I haven't gotten more than an hour of sleep in two weeks, so I'm open to anything. Help!

ETA: changed cosleep to bed share

Re: Cosleepers

  • I'm probably a terrible person, but I stick the boppy toward the top of the bed .... put blankets over it and put Ozzy in it on top of the blankets. He sometimes sleeps between my hubby and I in it. So awesome. We take turns getting him.

  • charmingthemoon- I'm going to check, I do have the wheels that lock. I didn't set it up so maybe it extends more!

@aessary03 - I fell asleep with him in the bed last night and woke up to him crying because I was drooling on him, haha! DH sleeps through his crying and says his drive to sleep is just too powerful...I have stabby thoughts about this. I put him on the mattress pad (raised sides) between us last night. I could probably do that for a while longer, he's still such a little guy like Ozzy!

  • My H and I struggled with the cosleeping thing. I avoided the rock and play despite all the good things you all have told me about it because its way too low for our bed. We ended up with the Graco Pack and Play set that comes with small matching bassinet. We will see when baby arrives how it all works out....

I know I'm not helpful here but just commiserating! :)
  • charmingthemoon - that is the one I have- thank you!!!!

  • We don't have our LO yet, but we have a co-sleeper and have the extenders on it. It seems pretty solid. We got it from a friend of ours who used it with the extenders for her two children and never had a problem, so I'm hoping it works just as well for us. Hope you are able to get yours adjusted!

  • We have an in-bed co-sleeper. It's enclosed, and goes up by the headboard, totally away from any bedding. I actually just opened it up today, and was pleasantly surprised to see at the head it has a little light or white noise you can press on (and then press off, or it goes off automatically in 5 minutes). I also like the idea that it folds up for travel, and LO can sleep in the same thing whether we're at home or at our parents', for example.

Of course, I'm a FTM and haven't used it yet, so I can't exactly recommend, but here's the one we have:

  • Mine has wheels on only one side. I think it is missing pieces but DH swears that is what the diagram (that I have never seen) showed. I don't get it! It's kinda low and is supposed to hook to the bed but we haven't gotten that far. It says it is tilted to help them about reflux but I should be able to decide that option and I can't. Ugh I'm frustrated!
