3rd Trimester

My body and muscles ache terribly

I am experiencing terrible muscle pain throughout my body. It's as if I'm doing rigorous workouts on a daily basis... I'm not! I don't workout at all bc I'm high risk, the most I do is walking, brisk and fast, but not every day. It started w my legs and calf muscles but now is in my arms, neck, back/abdominal... Just all over! I tried searching the internet to no avail, any ideas what this could be?

  • I'll take a guess and say, you are pregnant! LOL, seriously I have the same problem. My midwives say it's normal.

  • This is my 5th pregnancy... Def not normal. Lol, at least not for me. I only have about a week left before our scheduled vs, but even then I'll only be at 36 weeks. Hoping someone could let me know maybe some ways to relieve the pain... Are hot tubs still off limits for pregnant women?

Just because you haven't had this symptom before does not mean it's not normal. Every pregnancy is different.
Yes, hot tubs are definitely off limits.
  • Thank you all for the replies! Trying to take it easy... I know that at this point the only thing that helps is standing in the warm shower or a warm bath. I'm going to try the mint tea, and I'll just tough it out for the next week bc I don't like to take any OTC meds. I was trying to look up what it might be and I'm seeing several articles about a hormone or protein called relaxin, has anyone heard of this?
  • Relaxin? Never heard of it...
  • Lilia, I'm thinking it may have some thing to do with that! It hasn't been an achy pregnancy throughout, just the last week or so. And it is def worse in my knees/elbows, joint type areas. Overall, I'm looking forward to being not pregnant and holding our newest little bundle to help me forget about all of this discomfort!
