July 2013 Moms

2U2 moms, I salute you.

DH, E and I traveled to western PA to spend Christmas with my family.  And E got to spend time with her older-by-nine-months cousin, Elizabeth.  OMG.  Those of you with two under two, I bow to you.

After three days with the two of them, I was totally like this:

And that was splitting the baby duties with five other adults.

  • @lelo2006 so Brian is the youngest of 8 and they looooove kids. I have 20 nieces and nephews. His cousin has 9 kids (oldest is 12) and another is pregnant with her 10th. My favorite is his cousin who just had her 6th kid IN SEVEN YEARS. My vag hurt just looking at their Christmas card and thinking about that many labors.
    I.  Can't.  Even.  Imagine.

  • Oh my gosh!!!! My husband's grandfather had 16 kids in his family. His mom just loved being pregnant. She got so used to labor that she would have the baby, rest for an hour, and then keep going about her business. Wtf.

    @citrusfamily & @mermomo5, I salute you :)
  • Mine are 21 months apart and it really isn't that bad. I love having them so close in age. I actually wish they were a little closer together. I just want them to be able to play already! It makes it easier to have an older sibling to help out (SD is 8).
  • @jemasa33, how are things going with your sd?

  • We weren't planning for 2u2...we ended up with 3u2 since my second pregnancy was twins. It's a crazy circus at times for sure.:)
I get stressed out with my 2 and they're 2.5 years apart.

My DH wants another one already. He wants them super close in age. I have low amh and got lucky with my first clomid round.. I want to wait 3-4 years but even my RE told me not to wait too long and if I wanted to wait that long then I should do a couple cycles to harvest some eggies which I don't want to do.... So I'm going to be facing the decision of having one soon or not in the next couple months when I get my blood drawn to check my amh again.

ETA: tl;dr The idea of having 2u2 is scary as hell.

  • If everytHing goes well with this pregnancy it will be 2u2 (but three pregnancies in three years). Praying that this is another take home baby and then I'M DONE! Honestly, I would be relieved.

Thank you for asking!  Things are slowly getting better with SD.  DH's best friend came to town and stayed at our place for a week.  She loves him so much.  It seemed to help her feel better.  We also decided that she needs to go to her after school program everyday and do her homework there to decrease our stress in the evening.  DH told her he would dance with her for 15 minutes every night that her homework is done before she gets home (Just Dance).

I also went to a counseling session to learn how to improve the situation.  It gave me a greater understanding of her perspective, but it made me so angry at DH for making everything worse by being a dumbass.
  • Thomas was 21 months when Finn was born. It wasn't so bad. The little ones are a breeze compared to the big ones.

  • @valstulas I hear this!  With little ones, it is all about maintaining.  Once they start school a whole new beast comes out!  I blame other people's children :)

My cousin had twins last May and then another in August. I would die. But she's one of 8 in 10 years (including a set of twins). Our grandma had 11 in 15 years and her other grandma had 13 in 13 years (including one set of twins.) so it is all normal for her.

My parents had 3u3. I will not be following in their footsteps.

  • Oh, oh. I have another story. I was reading a baby blog the other day and the lady writing it had adopted a baby because she couldn't get pregnant. 6 weeks later, she found out she was pregnant with twins. So she had an 8 month old and twin newborns.
