2nd Trimester

Cramping

Hi everyone. I've had a dull cramp that has lasted all day. It's only on my lower pelvic area side. I've had sharp pains on and off throughout it. I'm 13 weeks pregnant and have no bleeding or any other symptoms. I called my doc just to double check and am waiting for a call back. From all of your experiences, could it be just my uterus growing or something more? Thank you.

Re: Cramping

  • I would say just growing and stretching. Rlp round ligament pains :)
If you get red then call :)

  • Ok. The thing that worried me is that it's been all day. Constant. But again, with no blood, you think it's ok? Thanks for your advice.
  • I have the same thing, just on one side. It was so bad on Christmas day that I couldn't stand up straight and had to stay on the couch most of the time. I talked to my doctor on the 26th, and he said not to worry. He made a great analogy to help me understand/quit fretting:

Cramping during pregnancy is a lot like turbulence during an airplane ride. You don't want to experience it, but it's to be expected for nearly every ride (pregnancy). You don't need to worry until the stewardess (doctor) straps in to their chair. :)

    Hope that helps!

  • Thanks, it does! IT just made me even a little more worried since a few of my friends that have been pregnant said that they never had cramping, yet I nearly have it all the time!
  • Sometimes I get cramps when I haven't drank enough... But not drinking enough is def something I struggle with!

  • Yea, upping your water in take can often help a lot. Even if you think you get enough :-)

  • This is my first pregnancy and I have been definitely having cramping on and off. A few weeks ago, it was so bad I could not stand up. I freaked out! I called my MD and she said as long as there is no blood, no fluid leaking, that I do not have a fever or vomiting- everything is fine. Like everyone else said, it is the ligaments stretching. She said that our organs are also getting "squished" in there. Being constipated, having to urinate can also cause pain. She told me to stay hydrated drinking >10 glasses of water a day....

    I hope you feel better!
  • My cramping comes with constipation, totally stinks!
