bottle /sippy cup.

My 17 month old.only gets a bottle maybe twice a day no more than that .
I give her whole milk in it and she does great .I have tried to put in several different cups and she just show no interest in it. I am not sure what to do cause she needs milk .

Re: bottle /sippy cup.

  • She does drink water and juice .I guess I always thought they need milk . She is a great Eater and gets a variety of foods . So I guess I worry too much

  • I wouldn't worry much if she eats other stuff like cheese, yogurt, etc.  Calcium and healthy fats are important :)  And keep putting a few ounces of milk in front of her, she may surprise you if you just put it there and leave her alone.  Are you only doing sippy cups?  Try straw cups!
  • I completely understand.  My daughter was the same way. She's always used straw cups for water without a problem. Shortly after mine turned 19 months, she quit the bottle cold turkey on her own. Are you more concerned about her getting the nutrients from milk, or is it because she still uses a bottle?  Kids can do fine without milk as long as they have a good diet.  Otherwise, you can always ask the doctor about whether she needs a supplement.  I give mine a gummy vitamin specifically with calcium and vitamin D since she won't drink milk anymore.  It's more for the winter since she doesn't play outside much because it's so cold. If you're more concerned about the bottle use, she may surprise you and give it up on her own.  Otherwise, you can try to eliminate it and accept she may not drink milk at all.
