Do you have pain and tightness?

I went to the ER last night after having abdominal pain for 24 hours. They diagnosed me with a bladder infection, gave me antibiotics in my iv and had me do a follow up with my dr's office this morning if the pain was still there because they weren't positive what's causing the pain.

My regular Dr was out so I saw a different one and he wasn't very helpful. When he pressed on my stomach near my ovaries it brought tears to my eyes it was so painful. He switched my antibiotics because he said he doesn't think it's a bladder infection. He also said pregnant women just have strong tightness (it's like a rubber band around my stomach) and stomach pain. He acted like I was being so dramatic.

Do you/have you felt this kind of pain or the tightness? I don't want to overreact but I'm still concerned that it hurts like this 2 days later. Sorry this is so long!

  • Sounds like you should check in with your regular doctor. That's not normal to be in that much pain

  • Like PP I've haven't ever had that much pain this early. I would check with your doc. I am so sorry you are experiencing this :(.

  • Not that much pain, no. My stomach does feel like there's a tight balloon in it, and it would be uncomfortable of pressed, but not that bad.

Try not to worry, though. It sounds like he was pressing right where the round ligaments are. I would think, yeah, that would hurt like a biotch.

  • I definitely notice tightness but no pain. I hope you can figure out what is going on! I'm sorry you have been having such terrible pain and I'm sure anxiety.

  • I remember your other post the other day and I'm still thinking that amount of pain is not normal! I'm sorry that the ER/doctors weren't more helpful, ugh that's frustrating.

I do have some tightness/pulling/pain going on, but it's been either RLP, cramping or gas. Nothing to the point of bringing me to tears, and I'm a baby butt and can't handle pain.

  • I don't know if this is like ur pain but the other night I woke up in the middle of the night and couldn't stand up straight BC I had this pain low next to top of my pelvic area and it felt like a tightness and I wanted to cry. But I drank lots of water and it went away. If felt like I needed to stretch my belly area but couldn't and wasn't about to try. I figured it was some sort of RLP.

    Same feelings here.

  • Did you see your PCP or your OB? I only ask because I had an appt with my PCP today for a checkin for my meds etc. and he said he just wanted to remind me that if I get sick I should call my OB because they couldn't/wouldn't give me any new meds without my OBs blessing. I'm just thinking it may be something you'd want to see your OB about if you haven't yet. For what it's worth my abdomen is sore, I get pains and cramping as well. It hurts to bend over. My OB told me there was nothing to worry about.

  • Sorry, I was just rereading and I wanted to say don't take no for an answer. You know your body, you know it hurts. This doesn't sound like what I had with my first, so please don't think I'm saying you have the same thing, but around 32w I had horrible pain up by my ribs and it just got worse. I went to L&D triage at my local hospital because as a FTM I had no idea what was going on. Baby was fine, they did multiple tests and scans of organs and couldn't find a problem. Meanwhile I was writhing in pain, crying, vomiting, etc. They were actually going to discharge me because they couldn't find anything wrong! Thankfully the doc changed his mind and I was transferred to another hospital to see a surgeon who ended up saving my life.

My point is I knew something wasn't right and even though the doctors couldn't find anything there was something wrong. Keep going to the hospital or calling your doctor until you get answers.

  • Thanks for the replies! I saw another dr in my OB office but I'm sure now that I want to see my regular Dr when she gets back into the office. It definitely doesn't sound like this is normal for an extended time period.

It'd be great if he had been pressing on my round ligaments, at least it'd give me an answer to why it hurt so much. I'm so sore now, it's like I've done 100 sit ups. I could probably do better with my water intake though. I'll up that this weekend while I wait for her to get back in the office on Monday. Fingers crossed that will make all the difference!
  • Your OB will be more sympathetic to your pain. They would be more likely to know more about what's going on. Even though your PCP is very well trained its just not something that they deal with all the time.
Sorry you are hurting and hope you get it all fixed up!

I've been having pain above my pubic bone. At first, peeing didn't hurt so no way of telling. On Xmas Eve, I peed razor blades. I went in and another Dr gave me antibiotics.

I've been on them for 4 days and I feel better. I really want to stop taking them. I hate meds and more so antibiotics.

I'm just sharing bc my pain was pretty bad and I could have mistaken a UTI for RLP had it not hurt to pee.

Good luck and feel better soon!

Glad that you are feeling better! I just want to advise you to finish the course of antibiotics although you are feeling better because the infection could come back.
