Natural Birth

Hi Ladies! Intro

I have been lurking on this board for a while now... thought that since I now ham having some questions of my own, I would introduce myself! I am PGAL with a baby girl! My husband & I couldn't be more excited! I am planning on a drug free hospital birth. I have enrolled in hypnobabies & I must say, im pretty excited! my best friend is a HB instructor & doula & has had 3 successfully home births & is about to have baby #6! she will be my doula & I couldn't feel more blessed to be able to have her by my side (her & my DH of course) to help me through my birth.

I have had the pleasure of the "your going to have your baby pain-med free" comments... the "ya right your going to do that" & the "why would you want to do that" comments. I just smile & nod & say my body, my baby, my decisions. but thanks for your opinions!  the ignorance in some people really amazes me sometimes!

anyways, I just wanted to introduce myself & say I love the posts & the stories of all you ladies! and I hope to be as strong as you ladies have been! Cheers to all of us for trusting our bodies to do what we were made to do!

Re: Hi Ladies! Intro

  • welcome! I'm very excited for you. I did hypnobabies home study and loved it. There are no HB classes around where I live or I would have done that. I must say I'm slightly jealous of your opportunity, I'm sure it will be wonderful.

  • Hi! What are HB classes? I would like a natural/waterbirth. My husband is very supportive.  But everyone we know had c-sections/interventions and are more like "good luck with that..." :/
  • Welcome! I'm new here too.

  • @txcrystal80 HB is a program in which you use positive affirmations and medical grade self hypnosis to negate the thoughts of pain and turn it into feelings of pressure.

  • So far I love my class & all my "HomePlay"! DH is actually getting into it as well... not as much as me, but I think he is really learning & understanding it all & why I want to do it this way. so exciting!

  • Welcome dutchess! I think you are right to have the attitude you do when you receive those comments. I had my beautiful baby girl last August naturally in a birthing center. Most people were supportive but I still got plenty of well-meaning "advice" about how painful it will be and that I'm going to be wishing for some drugs. Honestly, those people were correct; during my transition while I was labouring in water, I was thinking "I see why people get the drugs!" Yes, it's painful. But it is worth every second of it. I had zero complications and I am 37 years old. A hospital would consider me high risk. My midwives did not because I'm healthy. They looked at me, not my age. My husband and I want another and I will go for a natural birth again without any hesitation. It was an amazing experience! :)
