WWYD??

Hey ladies! Just wondering what you would do in my position. MH and I have friends that live in Florida but are in Texas for the holidays. They are staying with family, appx 5 hours away. We see them maybe once a year and they just had a baby in October. We have plans to meet halfway for a long lunch to catch up and squeeze each others' babies. Well she texted today to let me know that her LO is sick. Supposed to see a dr today to make sure it's nothing serious, but seems like a cold to her. She brought it up bc she knows Ben has been sick so much and would totally understand if we decided not to meet. Just to recap, my poor child has already had RSV, the flu and a cold. I really want to see them but am a little hesitant. Am I being ridic? What would you do? I can't shelter Ben from the world but if you know for sure someone is sick- in my position, do you risk it?

I'd go and leave Ben at home!

Hadn't thought of that!... But now realize that I have no sitter. They're all out of town. Damn it. This is MH's college friend and his wife so it wouldn't be appropriate for him to stay back. Maybe I will... But I wanna squeeze that baby. Wahhh.

  • How long has their kid been sick? Running a fever? If not, then it's not much different than your kid going to daycare and being around kids with colds every day.  I'd probably go and just keep them from kissing each other :)

True! I'll ask about the fever. Not sure why I didn't ask to begin with. He's been sick for a few days now.
  • I would go and just keep the babies away from each other. If the don't touch each other or each others things, then I'd be ok with it.
  • If it were me personally I would probably go because my LO constantly has a little cough, runny nose, etc. because of daycare, and a few more germs probably wouldn't hurt him. But your situation is probably a little different than mine. I would wait and see what their doctor says and then make a decision.
  • Aaaaand just confirmed that the baby has RSV :-( Poor guy.

Okay, then heck no, stay home. FaceTime or Skype them!
    Definitely!
