LOs that have a late bedtime/waketime

I know that most moms have their LOs on an early schedule (7am etc) but that doesnt work for me! Right now DD wakes up at 9 and sleeps at 9 (with naps of course). Just wondering if there are any other moms with a later schedule. If so, please share! DD has been kinda all over the place with naps lately.

Re: LOs that have a late bedtime/waketime

  • DD usually goes down for the night between 8-10...she doesn't have a set nap schedule, so it depends on when she napped last...yesterday, she took a 15 min power nap and then wouldn't go to sleep until about 9:45...she gets up at 6:30am on the weekdays (i have to wake her to get her ready to go to my moms while I work) and whenever she wants on the weekends (usually 8:30-9). We have tried set sleep times, and it doesn't work for DD, so we are still just letting her make her own schedule so long as she's getting enough sleep that she isn't cranky all the time.

  • DS wakes up for the day at 9 or 9:30 and goes to bed between 10:30 and 11. He goes to daycare 3 days a week and nap time there is 1-3. At home, he usually takes a nap at 2 or 3. I work 11am to 11pm, so my work schedule is different than most. If he ever starts needing more sleep, I'll just move bed time up. This is what works for us now.

  • We try to get DS down between 8:30-9 and he will get up around 6:30 but I put him back in bed with me and he will sleep another hour or so.  Within the last couple months he naps around 1 for an  1 1/2 to 2 hours, occasionally longer.

DD is very similar to your DS. She wants to stay awake later now.

  • We used to have a very late sleeping pattern but never really a schedule. She sometimes would go to sleep anywhere between 10-12 sometimes even one. I got tired of it and recently got her on more of a schedule. She goes to bed at nine and wakes up from 9-9:30. Unfortunately, lately she's been waking around 5 or so in the morning but is still sleepy so I keep nursing her till she falls back asleep which she will then sleep till 9 or 10. She naps around 12-1 but if we are out she won't get her nap till about 2 or 3 but bedtime stays the same.

Is she sleeping through the night yet?

Nope. Not even close... Rarely she will have a good night but there is no rhyme or reason to it. My husband was a crappy sleeper and did not STTN until he was 5, so I am blaming it on him ;)
