NE Philly Mommy from CA looking for new OB or CNM asap 22w Preg

Hey ladies. I'm out here from Ca and hate my current OB practice.  I'm 22 w and and want to switch. I'd LOVE to find a Midwife that accepts Blue Cross/Shield or a nice group that has a considerable amount of women. The men out here so far just don't settle well with me and just give me the creeps. I tried to be open minded but it's not working. And this isn't my first rodeo! This will be baby #3! So I know what to expect and just want someoneI feel comfortable with to catch my little one.

I can deliver at St. Mary's or Holy Redeemer. I'm wondering if anyone has specific experiences with Mother Bachman in Bensalem or Center for Women's Health in Langhorne. I can only have a CNM that works with a MD. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me!! I feel lost and don't want to switch in my 3rd trimester.

  • Hi there - I live in NE philly too , im 40 weeks today expecting my first. Ive have been extremely happy and satisfied with abington womens health. They have 2 or 3 locations..1 location right in hospital at abington and another not far from the willow grove mall. They're a large practice , about 15 dr's or so..with you being in your 3rd tri im sure you will get in right away..all the ob dr's are great and predominantly female. Very professional,  clean laid back atmosphere.  Let me know if you need more info.
  • I see women's health associates of buck county and delivered both times at st Mary's. Dr clearly defilipis Halpern and omalley. I highly recommend the practice but I'm not sure if they are associated with any midwives.

  • I use Center for Women's Health in Langhorne. I like them, but their midwife does not deliver and they only deliver at Capital Health in Hopewell, NJ. I've heard good things about their new OB, Patel. She and Walker are the only women doctors that deliver (there are other female doctors that only do gyn). I've heard really good things about Lawrence OB and their midwives. They deliver at Capital Health as well, but I don't know if they take your insurance.
  • Thanks ladies! I've heard of Dr. Defillipis an his practice before and they came highly recommended.

MIchelle7482: What did you think of your births at St.Mary's? I wish I can go have a tour of hte hospitals but they require you to sign-up first with my insurance before they let you go which seems inconvenient to go get a tour. I wish St. Mary's posted images of their birthing center.
  • I loved it. The nurses were great, the rooms are big , clean, and private. Oh and I LOVE Dr Defilipis. He's so awesome. I like them all but he's so thorough and nice.
