Boston IVFers

Does anyone here go to Boston IVF in Waltham, MA? I am thinking about switching RE's and have made an appointment for mid-January. I was wondering anything you like/dislike about this facility. It seems like it has a lot of more experience and resources that my current clinic does not have. At the time I was choosing I was going for location, but now after all of our failures I want a second opinion. Thank you!

KR250222 - I am in the Boston area and see Dr. Grace Lee at HVMA and the actual ER and ET was at RSC New England.  I did a bunch of research - and I think RSC and Boston IVF have the best success rates in the area - at least out of the ones that do a lot of IVFs - and for Unexplained.

I have a friend who is going to Boston IVF - she is single and freezing her eggs (she is 37) - I will ask her what she thinks of them.  Obviously she is in a slightly different situation but she may have a good perspective.

I wish you all the best with your appointment!

  • Hello! Hope you don't mind me posting over here. I have been active on the 'Trouble Trying to Conceive' board, me and DH are on our second IUI (one more and then we switch to IVF) and I was lurking over here as well.

I go to the Fertility Centers of New England, their offices are in Reading, Boston and Danvers. We were referred to them by a couple we know and they have been amazing.

    Good Luck with everything! :)

  • @Lady2010 We also go to RSC - Dr. Lee isn't our primary RE, but she was on call for one of our past transfers. DH and I were both very impressed by her! Her bedside manner was excellent.

  • Lurking... We go to Boston IVF and have been there for a year. I have PCOS and Lupus and DH has no issues. We work with Dr. Penzias's team and they are all wonderful! My care requires a lot of coordination with my MFM, Rheumatologist and OB and they are always so good. We did Clomid + Ovidrel + TI for two cycles and got pregnant both times but I had MMCs at 8 and 11 weeks. We have been on break since our last MMC in August and will be starting IVF # 1 in April/May 2014. Everyone from the admin to phlebotomists to ultra sound techs and nurses are so wonderful. Just an example... Last BFP we had issues early on and they thought we would MC. At my final appt to "confirm" the MC I went alone since the plan was a D&C the next day and DH couldn't take off that many days. Well, they found a HB and I was a hysterical mess. The girls rallied around me and hugged me since DH couldn't be there. Then they all kept in touch even after I was released to the OB. I couldn't imagine going anywhere else at this point. HTH! PM if you have any additional questions! Oh and I know two others who saw different REs at Boston IVF and have children and only have positive things to say as well. GL!

  • Hi! I haven't posted on here in a long time, I've been lurking. Saw this post and it made me want to come out of lurking!
I go to Boston IVF and see Dr. Berger, he is wonderful! All of the staff are wonderful. I have heard terrible things about other fertility clinics in the area and have not heard one negative thing about Boston IVF. My experience has been great besides the fact I am not pregnant yet, I'm hopeful they will find a way. And they make you feel confident that they are doing everything they can to help you achieve a healthy pregnancy.
My husband and I have been trying for 2 years and are unexplained, I have a daughter from a previous relationship who is 12 now with cerebral palsy. Technically I am secondary infertility but where that was 12 years ago anything could have changed. I am 28 and my husband 29 both of us completely healthy to conceive a child it's just not working. I have done 3 rounds of 100mg clomid with Ovidrel and IUI, none of those worked unfortunately. Dr. Berger recommended we move right to IVF because my insurance only covers $10,000 lifetime max! So that is where we are now, Dr. Berger knows we can only do one round of IVF because of our insurance and he has assured me he is going to be more aggressive with my IVF cycle knowing we are one and done, at least until we can come up with the money to pay out of pocket :/ we have already had to pay a couple thousand for this cycle.
I started my treatments yesterday, I'm hoping this will be it and we will be lucky and conceive the first time.
I really recommend you have a consultation at Boston IVF, they made me feel comfortable being there. I was very hesitant to go because of our age, I felt we didn't belong there and I was afraid the nurses and other
patients would resent us for that. Sounds crazy. But they didn't, they helped me accept that I needed help.
I'm done with my book PM me if you would ever like to talk!

I am a 2IFer too and am seeing Dr. Alper at B.oston IVF.

This is my 3rd clinic in a year and except for the commute, I have had a good experience thus far, though I am not pregnant yet.

I am coming off a 3rd failed IUI but knowing I have just one tube and the dominant follies have been on the tubeless side, I am not surprised.

The facility is very clean, efficient and the staff are friendly.

I have heard some say it feels like a baby factory but I don't mind there being a lot of people coming and going. To me, it means they are a busy and thriving clinic.

I have been hesitant to do IVF so my RE has let me go through IUIs first but I know he'd rather me do IVF (don't they all?)

I am considering changing only because r/t commute is 2hr and if we do IVF, I don't think the monitoring apts would be doable.

socialwkrsweetie our medical histories are similar, I have PCOS and recently dx with Lupus.  How is IVF with the lupus? Is it causing you to flare? Is your RE experienced in patients with lupus? If so, I would like to consult with him.

  • I go to Boston IVF in Waltham.  I have only met with my dr., once since my initial visit in December.  I have blood work, Clomid Challenge, HSG's, hysteroscopy.  Everything according to the nurses seem fine.  I am meeting with the doctor(finally) on Friday, so we'll see how it goes.  I have to say, I had to go the Brookline office for the hysteroscopy, and it is a much smaller office, and not as friendly.  The Waltham office is very open, and big.  I enjoy going.
  • I go to Brigham and Women's, and I have been very happy so far.  I'm starting my first IVF cycle through them, but I have done 4 IUIs there already.  I would look into success rates for your diagnosis.

We go to BIVF in Waltham. I'm beyond happy with our RE, Dr Bayer, and all the staff there. They are a professional, caring group of REs and nurses. We have obviously been a success story for them and hope to have a second success story soon. Good luck with your decision.

  • Thank you….I have great news….after a week doing the injections, I am ready to have the retrieval on Sat., morning!  I am being very optimistic and hoping this works the first time!!
  • I'm a little depressed….I had the egg retrieval, and they only took out 2 eggs :(
  • I go to Boston IVF, though I am seen at the Maine Center, I do see Dr. Alper.  He commutes to Maine a few times a month.  I have been happy with him, however, I have at times been quite disappointed in the office staff, not really seeming to care about being helpful, i.e., telling me I could get testing done elsewhere that fit my schedule, or that Dr. Alper would do a phone consult so I didn't have to wait for month.  I even called because I had new insurance, and the person seemed put out that I asked them to reverify my benefits.

In the end though, I have had a successful cycle, and I always feel confident in the physicians, so I keep going.
