Moms of 2 or more

So now that the holidays are over and reality has set in, I'm going from a girl mom to a boy mom. I have saved all of my DD's clothes and realized that I only have a handful of stuff that will work for Little Brother. My question is: What should I keep? How much should I keep? Do I send it all to a resale shop or have a yard sale? So many choices I just don't know where to start.

  • I had a daughter first, then son. I kept all DDs stuff because we knew we wanted 3-4. Since this one is a boy, I'm going to get rid of less special clothes like onesies but still keep some dresses in case of a doubtful 4th child. Will get rid of all of it by the time this ones a year if we decide not to have another.

  • I need to go through DDs stuff. I'm planning on keeping the really special stuff (we are probably done but not 100% sure), giving the cute stuff to a friend who is having a girl and consigning the rest.

  • I guess my family is weird. My mom is the oldest of 15 kids so now that all them have kids the grandkids are all starting to have kids that we have so many babies we just pass clothes around. This will be the first girl in almost 3 years and I went through her 0-3 month clothes last night we have 65 onesies alone and I haven't bought a single item. Once she out grows them I'll box them up and wait for the next girl and pass them on again. All the big items I have had for a couple years when I was kept my nephew for his first 6 months.
  • If you are done having children what about donating to a battered women's shelter. Some times women have to take their children and flee with nothing. If you are not sure I'd pack them in a space bag and store them. We donated all of DS baby clothes when we moved not thinking we would have another right away surprise for us lol

  • Keep it all for a few years...until you know for sure you are done (you may already know that)...plus you never know when a family member or community member will need it.

  • I'm on my third, and even before I knew I was havin boy number three I went through things and sorted out what I thought I really wouldn't need- like things I had multiples of, things that were gifts That were really NMS but used a few times anyway, etc. I boxed up what I didn't want/need and donated it. The rest I will use for this baby, along with a few fresh new outfits.

  • My plan is to hold on to things in case we decide to have another kid.  If my sister gets pregnant soon (which I hope she does) she can take what she wants minus a couple sentimental things.  More than half of what my son has is hand-me-downs from SIL, so it seems fair to just keep the clothes moving through the families.
  • I only have one kid, but I kept special/cute clothes that I am making a quilt with. Everything else I sold at consignment or donated. My logic is that if I keep it, I am banking on having the same sex child, that is the same size at previous child in the right season. I just buy new clothes at big consignment sales we have in our area.

  • My friend and sis are both having boys, this one is a girl for me. I will give away most of the boy stuff but I really would like to keep some outfits bc it will be hard to give those special ones away. It's up to you, and what you are comfortable with. Ultimately I will make a quilt with DS' s clothes
