Babies: 0 - 3 Months

What formula do you use?

I know every baby is different, but what formula do you use and how does your baby tolerate it? Thanks in advance

Re: What formula do you use?

  • We're using Similac gas and fussiness as a supplement.  She tolerates it.  Not sure if it helps with the gas as we just started.

  • Enfamil Gentle Ease is what we started with. Baby girl was gassy with it and used gas drops..but for $ reasons, switched to Walmart's brand of it, and she no longer needed the drops.

I thought her digestive system has just matured, but we gave her a few bottles of the brand name again a few days ago, and the uncomfortable gassy behavior started again.

    Who would have thought!

  • We use enfamil prosobee as a supplement. We started with the newborn but he started being really fussy and mucousy stools. So no more dairy!
  • We use enfamil gentlease as a supplement. Pediatrician suggested this formula or similac sensitive since I'm breastfeeding because they are low in lactose. Havent had any problems with it after a week and a half of use.
  • We use Gerber Good Start Protect. Our pedi gave us samples of it and we've just stuck to it.

  • We use Similac Aliumentium $$$ LO has major reflux and some tummy troubles it seems to help. We're hoping to try to find a different formula but we tried Soy and it didnt go well at all...
  • We use Earth's Best Organic. We tried to use the Well Beginnings walgreens brand but his skin got very dry and red. Since we switched his face has dramatically cleared up so we will stick with it.

  • If you don't have any particular dietary concerns for your LO, definitely try a store brand.  They're nutritionally comparable to all name brands but just like name brands have slight variations, store brands do as well - not less safe or poorer quality, just different and MUCH cheaper.  We've used Target formula for both kids and they did great.  If, like a poster above mentioned, a generic doesn't work for your LO, don't write off ALL generics because they're all different :)

  • We use Enfamil Gentlease. I switched to Similac Sensitive and DS was spitting up/throwing up after every feeding. We are back on Enfamil and no problems.
  • We started with Similac for Supplementation and now we're using Enfamil for Newborns because we had several sample cans/bottles. (No problems switching between the two.)

When we run out, we'll probably try a generic brand, similar to Similac Advance, just to save some loot. Because daaamn, formula is expensive. (I know, preaching to the choir.)

  • We started with Enfamil Newborn powder and LO was really gassy. We've switched to Enfamil Gentlease and he's been fine. Once the coupons/checks that i have for Enfamil are gone, I will be switching to the Target generic formula that is the equivalent of Gentlease.

We use the gentlease, too. The checks will keep coming (at least I keep getting them.) We buy ours at SAMs (they also take the checks) and it's the cheapest we've found--even cheaper than the Walmart brand.
