Worst news!! (Doctor related)

I just got a call from my OB office that my doctor will no longer be at that clinic because he's moving out of state :-( I loved my doctor and sad that he's leaving. I'm even more worried about seeyin another doctors this far along that doesn't know me or hasn't seen me the past 30 weeks. To top it off I heard this other doctor I was scheduled with is an ass and doesn't really care about anything much ( heard this from my friend & cousin who had him) sigh... I hope it all goes well and I don't have any complications with him! Thanks for hearing my rant ladies :/

Re: Worst news!! (Doctor related)

  • That sucks.  Can you find another doctor instead of using the one that you were assigned to?

  • At least you will get to know him before delivery! The Dr. I saw all through my last pregnancy received mixed reviews from other patients, but I really liked him.  He was blunt, to the point, and no-nonsense.  I appreciated it, but others were turned off by it.  It's just how personalities click :)
  • This does suck, but you had me really worried.  At least you and the baby are ok!

  • It's not the worst news ever.....but I'm sure you're feeling a little bit worried about it.  :(  If it helps you feel better, I live in Key West and I had two choices of doctors to go to. I picked the office that used midwives.  So every month I meet with the midwife for my check up and one month I met with the doctor. Literally he was in my room for less than 2 minutes.  And if he's on call or if my delivery becomes high risk or emergency, he will be delivering the baby.  Also, the way their "on call" system works, I have no idea who will be delivering my little girl.  I'm kinda just going with it. :( Nothing I can do about that!

  • Never met my on call doctor with DS. Not world ending news though. Sucks, but at least your new OB will get to know you beforehand.

  • Thank you ladies for the responses, even tho unknown it's not the end of the world, it just worries me, because as a FTM I was already feeling comftrable with my other doctor. But I'm trying to stay positive and make the best out of the situation! Thank again and hopefully things go as planned, and who knows maybe me and this doctor will click too! :)
  • It's funny how subjective doctor preferences are.  At my OB practice there are four doctors.  I know two other people that have delivered through the practice and we have all preferred different doctors.  The one (male) doctor that I was told was "cocky" is actually my favorite; he didn't come off that way to me at all, and I never thought I would hope to be delivered by a male doctor.  It's just funny what each person thinks constitutes a good doctor.  Good luck!

  • I'm sorry! Was it guaranteed that your doc would be the one who delivered your baby? FWIW, there are 6 doctors and a midwife at my practice. My dr. was not on call the day I delivered but even though I had never met the dr. who delivered my son, she was amazing.
  • My old OB fell and broke his neck (crazy!) 3 days before DD was born. He had guaranteed me that he would deliver me and I never met another doc in the practice. Turns out, the office shared call with another OB office. So the dude that delivered me wasn't even part of the normal crew. No biggie. It's for about an hour or 2 total time of the birth process and that was with complications for me. When he walked in and introduced himself, I mentioned my desires (no episiotomy, immediate skin/skin, delayed clamping) and he said "sure, unless we can't."
