i have the flu

Title says it all, im trying to get MIL to take dd for a few nights since DH wont stop her from being all over me any chance she gets. She has had her flu shot, but I'd rather her be somewhere where everyone is healthy, getting frustrated though since MIL doesnt want to take her with her not STTN. Just wanted to be like really, her health isnt more important than that.

  • Aww I'm sorry. I hope your DD stays healthy and your feel better soon! Can your DH stay with her at your MILs?

  • I got her convinced to take her for at least tonight. They didnt tell me until they were discharging me that I actually have H1N1, I had called my MIL as soon as they told me I had the flu which was well before discharge, so when I got out and called and told her I had that strain she was more than happy to take her. I dont really want to be away from her overnight, but if it can keep her healthy I'll deal. They think between being prego and allergic to the flu shot thats why I got it, but recommended I stay isolated esp from dd even though she has had her flu shot.

  • oh, no! I had H1N1 in 2010 and it was the worst I've ever felt in my life.
I'm glad you have relief for tonight, at least, so hopefully you can rest.

Ditto! It's awful, but I'm sure compounded by worry for your LO! Glad you have family near to help you. Hope you feel better soon.
  • Thanks ladies, I'm completely miserable, to the point I would rather be dealing with the allergic reaction to the flu vaccine. I have to wear a mask even at home so I minimize exposure to DH and DD when she is here, and MIL brought us a butt load of disinfectant. DH will probably be sleeping on the couch though, since I tried to nap with the mask on earlier and took it off in my sleep. On the plus side, they told me I could take tylenol for achiness and fever and it has drastically reduced how bad I was aching. I called DD's pedi at the hospital's recommendation, told them I was diagnosed with H1N1 and they are going to treat her as a precaution, so HOPEFULLY between having her shot and being treated just in case, we can totally avoid her catching it. I have to miss family christmas, and can't really interact with her unless unavoidable since they said I'd be contagious until Thursday, and want me isolated from her as much as possible until then. As long as she stays healthy, I won't mind having to miss everything this week.

  • Well dd was brought home with a cough and a fever, I think she caught my flu. I called her drs office and spoke with the on call dr. They said it definitely sounds like she caught it, but since they already prescribed her some tamiflu as a precaution we can wait til monday to bring her in to be tested and avoid her catching something worse in the er, unless she starts to seem worse of course.

  • Thanks again ladies. DD seems totally back to normal today, I still feel like I have a head cold, but it's a far sight better than I was feeling.
