In home childcare question

I might be able to be a stay at home mom, and might watch another child in my home. What is the average rate people charge for in home care? I have 13 years experience in childcare ages 6 weeks to school age. I have a BS in Early childhood and a Elementary ed., and plan on providing an educational experience. Just wondering if anyone could give me some suggestions on rates, do's and don'ts. Thanks.

Re: In home childcare question

  • I have seen most often $150/week for full-time care.

  • ^^ That's what we pay, and that includes food.

  • I agree with the other ladies.  We pay our in-home sitter $150/week or $30/day. She provides lunch (now that my son is old enough for solids :))  Otherwise, as a baby, we provided formula/breast milk, the bottles for the day, packs of diapers and wipes.  Now, as a preschooler, we just bring a snack to share each month.
