Staying organized

After getting so many gifts for DS I realized I need to figure out how to stay organized. We have an extra bedroom that is his playroom. There are bulk beds in it, a bookshelf and a computer table and that all has to stay. What furniture/shelves do you have that keep you organized. What do you use for storage? If you want to post some pictures that can inspire me that would be awesome. I'm off for a week and my goal is to organize that playroom into a real playroom. Thanks ladies!

  • We have an ikea expedit (like what Kemare posted) in his room. 8 cubes hold books, and 8 have baskets for clothes and toys.

In the living room we bought a kid shelf at Target. It has the baskets you can take out so we can take Legos out or e can pull from the buckets. Holds a surprising amount of stuff.

  • We have a thing like what's pictured above and one that's linked above. I prefer the cubes with the cloth bins.

  • We're very lucky in that he has a huge space in our finished basement as his playroom. Right now I'm using 2 book shelves, 1 tall and 1 short with rubber bins I got from Big Lots around Easter time. We also have a cube shelf like @linzeek44 showed. So far it's working well. I know we'll need more bins in the near future with all the Christmas gifts he's gotten. His play space is about 17'x25' which I realize is very large. So we're lucky that way.

  • We have the space too, basement, living room, family, 4 bedrooms but I'm just OCD and need things contained. He has an area in each room with toys but his "playroom" is where I'm trying to make it his play space. I just need it neat. What's the best place to look, Target?

I would say Target but ours is from a hodge podge of places. All of his toys are in the playroom but he does have a basket in the main living room that has toys in it too. We use those when we aren't in the playroom, I'm cooking dinner, getting ready for work etc. They all fit in the large basket so when it's time to clean up it takes 2 seconds to do. GL!

  • We have the cube thing too and it works great for us. It's good at containing all the smaller stuff. We got it at Target.

  • In DD's bedroom she just has a large toybox and a bookshelf. In the basement (finished, so we spend a lot of time down there) we have one of those kid shelves with bins very similar to the one that linzeek posted. I love it! It's so easy to re-organize even if she dumps all the toys out--which she loves to do, of course.
