Rash or acne

My LO has dry bumps covering his head and face to his chest and back. Pedi says its acne and will go away in a couple weeks. It looks horrible. He's had it for a week and it doesn't look like it's getting better. Anyone else dealing with this?

Re: Rash or acne

  • My son has what I thought was baby acne starting. Buy then he got it all over his legs and chest too. That combined with gas and constipation we took him in. We had to change his formula. So if you lo isn't having constipation or really bad has, it could be just acne

  • Yes! E has it. It was really bad but it inky bothered me. Nothing seemed to clear it up (not even my breast milk). I found that 1% hydrocortisone cream worked (dried it out) then aquafor to remoisturize once a day. Works like a charm!
  • If it's acne, leave it alone.  It will pass having done absolutely nothing to it.  It's just something they have to go through.

  • I have the same issue right now with my LO and it seems like it's itchy because she puts her hands by her face to scratch and cries a lot. Is there anything that can make it less itchy or provide relief?
  • Mine has it too, I find it seems better one day then 10 times worse the next, I'm just wiping his face with a clean cloth and warm water more often, hope it goes away.

This for me too. It's caused by their changing hormones, and peaks at 4 to 6 weeks generally. My first born didn't have it, so it's a first for me.

Are babies supposed to use hydrocortisone? I thought it was a no-no.

Pediatrician gave it the ok. She's cool with it, in cool with it. But I never really did it that often, like 2-3 nights a week.
  • Seems to be getting better on his face but it's all over him from belly to head and is very dry. He also has horrid cradle cap. :(
