Babies: 6 - 9 Months

teething?

okay. so my son is only 10 weeks old, but i am hoping some of you ladies could shed some light. i was under the impression that we shouldn't expect any teething for a couple more months, but out of nowhere, 2 days ago the little guy started showing some signs. drooling like crazy and gnawing on his hands constantly. we even broke out one of the teething rings and he is loving it. he has woken up a couple extra times to nurse during the last 2 nights and during the day it seems difficult for him to fall asleep, even when he is very tired. these all sound like telltale teething signs. did any of your little ones start sprouting teeth before 3 months, or do you have any idea what else these sudden changes could mean?

Re: teething?

  • It's pre- teething and normal. My son did it too. It's also when the salvia kicks in & they don't know how to swollow it yet. He didn't get teeth until he was 5.5 months

  • Pre teething indeed! It can take months for the tooth to cut. If you need a good teether in the meantime look into teething mittens
  • Yeah, there were many occasions that I was 100% convinced that my son was teething. Once he even went on a nursing strike. But then... No teeth. Honestly, drooling and chewing are just things that babies do all the time so it's impossible to know for sure if they are teething until a tooth breaks through. The average age for the first tooth is six months though. When his first teeth actually cut, there were no signs or symptoms and I was totally surprised to feel them in his mouth!
