January 2014 Moms

Intro :)

Hi everyone, I'm Kelly. I've been hanging out for the last several months on the February board, because I'm due February 12th. But, I just diagnosed with cholestasis (a liver disease, will only affect me in pregnancy but it can carry an increased stillborn risk if the baby goes to full term), so I will most likely be induced at 36-37 weeks depending on the baby's lung maternity. So now, I'm realizing that I'm really having a January baby! Yikes.

So, I just wanted to say hi. Also, any advice for things I really need to do these last few weeks? I have a lot of things for the baby already, but I haven't really thought about what I definitely need the first few weeks for baby and myself. I plan to do a big order on Amazon next week- lots of overnight pads! Yay.

I hope everyone is feeling okay (okay as you can at this point). Merry Christmas if you celebrate.

Re: Intro :)

  • Welcome to Jan :) I'm sorry to hear you are diagnosed with cholestasis. I'm 36 weeks atm and I can honestly tell you that I am not ready haha. I suggest organizing the best you can like washing things that needs to be washed and having your hospital bag ready.

  • Welcome! I'm sorry about your diagnosis of cholestasis. I'm a FTM, so I don't have a lot to share on what to make sure you have prepared, but good luck, and Merry Christmas!

  • Welcome!! I am also sorry to hear of your diagnosis. I am a FTM and am 35 weeks. I feel almost ready for LO's arrival besides the freezer meals I'd like to prepare. The nursery is all ready, clothes are washed and most of my hospital bag is packed except for the small items I need until delivery day. I wish you the best with your induction & delivery, very Merry Christmas and good health & happiness in the new year. Good luck! Keep us posted :)
  • Welcome. Sorry about your diagnosis. As you can see I didn't even come close to making it to January.... lol. So I'm totally not one to ask on being prepared! :) But I wish you the best of luck!

  • I'm with @aessary03! I didn't make it either and I'm still getting things together for when my LO comes home from the NICU. But welcome and I'm sorry you are dealing with that.

  • Sorry to hear about your diagnosis! I'm a FTM so I can't tell you from experience what to do except, maybe try to make a few meals and freeze them so you'll have some healthy, home cooked meals for after baby's arrival. I'll be thinking of you and your little peanut!

  • Welcome! Sorry to hear about the diagnosis. I believe there are a few other ladies on this board with the same thing! No advice. We are far from ready... Lol. Good luck, though. :)
