WWS12 do?

LO went to the pedi on Tuesday and was diagnosed with a double ear infection. They gave him 2 shots of antibiotics with a prescription to start on the following day. We started them on Wednesday, and of course we leave for the holidays and I left the prescription at home in te refrigerator.

LO goes back to the pedi on Monday for his 15 month checkup and to recheck his ears. I am debating on just leaving things be, or calling the pedis office tomorrow and getting them to call in the prescription where we are.

What would you all do? Help!

  • Also, antibiotics are supposed to be taken for 10 days, which would be Saturday.

I'd have them call in the prescription tomorrow so you can pick it up where you are, just because he'll probably feel a lot better if he's on them sooner rather than later.  Hope he feels better soon!

Could you contact the pharmacy and see if they can fill it? Like walgreens at home in ME filled the original, walgreens in FL where you are visiting can see tje prescription on the computer and fill it.

I would do this. They'll need to contact a doctor to authorize it since there won't be any refills on the Rx, but they might be able to get a hold of your doctor's on-call faster than you can.

    Definitely don't quit antibiotics early.

ETA On second thought, if you're in a different state, it might not be so easy for them. I would actually maybe call the on-call directly (whatever the after hours number is) and explain the situation.

  • I'd have them call it in as well. I'd be worried about the bacteria becoming more resistant to the antibiotics if they weren't killed off by the shot.

  • Okay, thanks ladies! I'll call the on call first.

  • We had this problem when Colby was on reflux medicine, his needed to be refrigerated and I forgot it at home. I cAlled my on call pedi with the contact information of the local pharmacy and she just called in a new prescription. I wouldn't quit antibiotics early. Good luck!
