I started getting samples a few weeks ago. I got 2 similac and an enfamil. I signed up with similac strong moms but I never did anything with enfamil. I am a STM so I didn't register anywhere, so I'm not sure how enfamil got my info, although I'm glad to have the samples just in case. Formula is expensive! I got home from the hospital yesterday and one of the things they give u to go home with is a Similac "Breastfeeding" bag. The Lactation consultant and I had a laugh about that. It had some random info and supplies for Breastfeeding, but then coupons and a pamphlet about similac. It was like a "hey, good luck with BFing. When it doesn't work out, use Similac!"
I signed up for Similac moms. Loving the extra samples. All the coupons that came with it have the same "acct number" though. So I'm wondering if they just screwed up or had a computer issue. I haven't seen any enfamil or gerber samples yet. After 8 months BF with DS we used Similac so hoping we can use again. Anything else I donate as well.
I just got a box a week or so ago...with my last pregnancy, I got more samples after baby was born, but we'll see what happens. I also hope to breastfeed and will donate my samples if breastfeeding does happen for me.
Same with me! I never signed up for anything, but somehow I've also received 2 boxes from Similac and one from Enfamil. I put them in our food storage shelf in the basement so they are out out of the way. I intend to BF and I don't need boxes of formula staring me in the face when I'm having difficulty with it.
I got a similac one yesterday. I never needed the samples with DS but was glad toget them and then donate them later. The sample box was really nice this time- it came with some pre-made bottles for supplementation for breast feeding moms. I hope I get an enfamil one soon. It's also nice to give away the checks and coupons.
Oh man, I'm only 34 weeks and I've received 4 boxes from Similac (each with the 2 types of powdered formula & 4pk of pre-made), and 2 from Enfamil (with 2 powdered in each). I also got kits from my OB's office. I'm really hoping we don't need them, but I'm happy to have them just in case.
My husband laughs every time another box shows up. He asked if we could sell them and buy something we need. *sigh*
I just received one box of Enfamil, and I was actually debating whether to keep it or give it to my SIL since I'm going to be breastfeeding. I decided to keep it just in case, but I do worry about getting stressed out and just giving in to the formula since it's in the house. I know it's not poison or anything, but it really is clever/shitty of formula companies to market this way to new parents.

Just for your peace of mind, we had our samples on top of our fridge for the entire 15 months I breastfed and they never got opened. Even when we went out of town for four days without DS, I just planned out how much extra I would need and pumped a lot the month before we left. It felt nice to have the security there but wasn't actually something we considered using without need.
