What kind are you using?

DS loved the Nuk ones but I'm having latch issues this time around and that nipple shape is exactly what I'm trying to avoid so not sure if that's best.

I'm also trying to hold off as long as possible due to the latch issues but wish I could give now. DS had one since day 2!

I used Mam pacifiers with DD1 and am using them again with DD2. Both girls took to them right away. Try the Mam Start for newborns.

Gum drop or soothies. I know people are concerned with the soothies, but we just don't give it to him when we aren't right there. I had to use them because he is a big comfort nurser. He would stay on all day if I let him not swallowing anything.

I tried the gumdrop but it is still too big for his tiny mouth. I like the shape of the "nipple" on the gumdrop pacis.

We are using a Wubbanub which has a soothie pacifier on it. We used a Wubbanub with one of my older daughters and she loved it, and he seems to like it too.

@whitterpow I hadn't heard people are concerned about the soothies, what are they worried about?

@whitterpow I am also curious what the smoothie concern is... Those are the ones the hospital gave us as well!

Avent regular pacifiers not the soothies. They are the only ones DS would take so we are using then again.

We use the MAM for newborns, but she will only take it on occasion. No nipple confusion thus far and it's been almost two weeks.

Looks I may need to get a Mam or give in to the Nuk. Thanks for the feedback.

The issue with the soothie is that there are all of these stories going around the internet of kids (older than ours I'd assume?) getting their finger caught in it and it turning blue and some having to have fingers amputated.

Babies have been getting their fingers stuck in the hole in the front. There have been reports of them cutting off the circulation in their fingers and almost losing them.

We used the Soothies with DD, and she only uses hers at night now, so we're probably going to use the same for DS... he just wants the booby at this point though, haha, he cries when you put it IN his mouth, like what the heck is this?!
